Either way, wow, what an incredible storm! 

I measured 24” in Hoboken earlier trying to avoid any areas of drift, so I believe it. Theres been a nearly stationary band over the area for many hours..hopefully it was also over CPK!

And therein lies the problem with these large storms. Exactly what happend in 1996 and Boxing Day. They seem on top of this one though so hopefully the final counts it.

Higher sun angle + much warmer temps than the Jan storm. Difference is huge

A snow hole at times as you get close to the Sound, and across it into Northern Nassau. 'Hole" is relative cause over a foot is still a lot of snow, but yeah historic level snow is just to the west, NW, and south. Getting a burst right now though with stronger winds, looks like it could drop a quick inch or so.
