Miller A doing Miller A things.  Nobody told this storm it wasn’t to go east.  The biggest storms and biggest busts tend to be Miller As.  Do not sleep on the east trend.  Nor should you discount banding.  Or subsidence.  Surprises with these abound.  Nothing to be done except watch the cinema and dig or sweep whatever you get.

Except isn’t this a Miller B?

Moderate snow now, large flakes, much more substantial rates/QPF than I thought this early...unfortunately nothing sticking yet.

Same in Hoboken, moderately snowing for a few hours but little accumulation as it's been hovering around 34, although dropped to 33.6 now. I was expecting rain at first and a later onset.

What are models progging surface temps for tonight? 30/31F or lower or hanging around 33/34F for the main part of the storm? Huge difference there.

down as low as 28 into nyc mainly hovering 29ish

It’s very rare for the NWS to be forecasting much more snow than the model consensus.  We will see how this shakes out but this looks across the board high by 6 inches plus.  My weather underground app has me at 14 inches and they usually are always high while the NWS warning has me at 16 to 24 inches.  I’m expecting around a foot.

Again I’ve never seen such a disconnect, weather underground app still showing 12 and been consistent for days while NWS is 16 to 24 inches.  Unprecedented.

There's something poetic and sage about this reply.  It's like 8 consecutive meteorological fortune cookies back to back.

Let’s see what happens for the afternoon update by Nws. 24 is too high for nyc but possible for LI. I’d go 12-16 for NYC 15-20 LI with isolated 24+
