I think I'm more curious to see how the people down here react to what would be barely considered a moderate storm on Long Island.

When I first moved here in 87/88 I was in charlotte and they got 12" of snow. I drove my Mom to work at the mall and had to go back for her because everything closed down and stayed that way for a week

I moved from Central NC to NE Wisconsin 100 years ago

I woke up one morning-we had maybe 3 inches of snow

I was excited-no school!!

2 minutes later a School bus goes by

Quite the long life, any secrets?

Probably about the same way that Long Islanders would react to a week or two of our mid 90°s high humidity spells!

It wasnt 12" of snow, you were just 3' tall!  And mom walked to the mall, both ways, uphill, into a headwind.  Get your facts straight.  :P

You're not far off there :P   5' 1" and 105lbs so once those winds reach warning criteria, I need cinder blocks for shoes

Brad P made a post with caution to the higher totals (dryslot).

Not able to share currently

Watching him over the years, he doesn’t mess around with ratings. He’s keeping his maps the same fo now opposed to the map WRAL is showing because it is possible the slotting doesn’t happen or isn’t severe. Makes people manic if you change graphics all the time. The new RAH NWS brief on YouTube was helpful.

Yep! Lived in the carmel commons area and she owned the cookie store there. Everyone sliding around and stopping mid hill then sliding backwards had me cracking up. Spent the morning pulling peeps out of ditches  Good times

I work at a surety bond agency in your area so my clients are contractors and completely understand.  This kind of thing really messes with a project schedule.  Not to mention bids being postponed and having to reissue updated bonds

Haha- just renewed my SC licensing bond last week- but I don't build much in SC compared to NC- i have Unlimited class in NC, and NC lets us do attestation v having to renew the surety.every year- there are some big differences between the two states in terms of Admin code

Yea it costs me time and $$$ every Dec to Feb- building during the winter is def my least favorite- ground is always wet, and sometimes you can't hit a final grade/landscaping until March on some projects- it sucks when such a minor thing holds up a bigger development.  End buyers purchase heavily in March-June, so you really don't have a choice but to build, unfortunately

Muni/State Bids must be a nightmare right now- I can only imagine since they are such big $$$ projects...fortunately I get to skip that whole step bc I am the project owner/developer and the GC (I would be protecting myself....from myself lol)....we typically don't have to mess with them as much on the resi side- I haven't had to do one since I became a GC....

I saw the reaction to 2" of snow my first winter down here.  I can't imagine what a foot of snow would do.  I can imagine people looking out of their doorways while "Arms Of An Angel" plays.
