Will save us from that heavy sleet further south Was in that lull for a bit but back to moderate sleet and radar to the west looks solid (though I wish it was situated in a straight west to east line). The HRRR has a very brief dry slot before another band comes through overnight. 22z HRRR is hinting at an additional 4-6" for Rockland & Orange

dave0176
Currently 35 and pouring rain in Brick. Anyone know how much rain we’re supposed to get? Because it’s going to kill the snow pack.
Rjay
2 minutes ago, Wannabehippie said: How often are you going to see ground temps that far below freezing, with just freezing rain? Not often around here. More often in the plains and ohio/tennesee valley. Still some IP mixed in here.

Bxstormwatcher360
Looking like the snow wants to win out here. My visibility is dropping again. The radar has the mix line starting to sag south to about i95@the cross bronx soon.

mob1
Radar looks primed for Central Park for the next few hours (assuming it stays all sleet), should easily get them to 10"+

When the lifting sucks and there's nothing to seed the clouds with, you can get freezing drizzle/light freezing rain. The heavier stuff to the west will likely be sleet when it gets here. 1
Rjay
ISP reporting "light snow/light ice pellets" but it's definitely sleet/zr right now. This is annoying.

winterwx21
This has turned into one heck of a sleet storm. Hour after hour of pounding sleet. What a snowstorm this would have been if not for the mixing.
Picard
Snow changed to sleet for a bit and within the last 5-10 minutes seems to be back to majority snow. Temp still @6F. BxEngine
Sleet has finally invaded rockland. NAM delayed but not denied. 12 degrees. Interestingly enough it is now shown as -SNPL instead of the PLSN they were reporting 1.5 hours ago so for some reason, they're showing it as Snow is now the more dominant precip out there

eduggs
Total pelt fest out there, wow! Just cleared a long driveway and the sleet plus windblown accumulated about 1/2" in an hour and a half. But new snow depth is still at 10". Really dense snow to move. Congrats to those north of this stuff!
