So by the looks of it we are counting the sleet measurements in our snowfall totals for the season?

Yea, and I don’t know how I feel about it lol. Rule measured 5-5.5” here…followed by 8 hrs of sleet. Fun and interesting storm, but 2/3 of it was sleet (aka not snow).

My development did a nice job clearing the streets and sidewalks...no clue what the outside world looks like

Same. The dudes that work in my development worked all day yesterday (and probably underpaid for it). Now shoveling around my car is not something I’m looking forward to. Might wait until the sun breaks out before tackling that.

My street got plowed at some point. Made a mess of things. What wasn’t shoveled last night looks like solid concrete now. Gonna be a bitch to chip up

Good morning - yes on the concrete.  I used the plow and snowblower on my small Kubota (profile pic) to clear the driveways and sidewalks in our neighborhood yesterday from early am till evening and then a few more hours after dinner.  Got much of the snow removed on our 500' driveway before the flip, but not everywhere.  At first the sleet plowed fine - flowed like sand.  After it sat for a while it congeals into a semi-icy mess.  If the plow can find a way to pop it up from the bottom, that helps fracture the mess into movable chunks.  Otherwise, the tendency is to just skim over the top.  Going back out today and clear some more.

Storm totals here, 4.5 inches yesterday, 2.8 today for a 7.3 inch event total with 1.91 liquid. I did FOUR CoCoRaHS measurements/SWE's to get an average for the property. Bottoms of hills and low spots have 7-8 inches and the tops of hills have as little as 4. Ended up with a 5.5 average (and that is what a level spot and the undisturbed snowboard measures) on SWE of 1.85. Temp rose to a 3 am high, then down rapidly as winds turned on from W/NW. Currently 17.7/12.3 with W 12 gusting 26 wind with some flurries in the air. There are 18+" of sleet piled on ground at the bottom of the roof where the angles meet lol.

It’s a disaster out there.  Just walked around and I live right on the border of tkpk and silver spring.

I'm near bullis park  and nolte park just east of downtown silver spring.  Bonifant St / Dale Drive  area if you know where that is, not far from Whole Foods / Wayne Ave / the SS Library.  Bonifant street, which is a major alternative to Wayne, has not been plowed.  Wayne and Fenton are passable but icy as hell.

@SomeguyfromTakomaPark we're basically neighbors, are you near Piney Branch road? My older kid goes to TPMS

It's literally a disaster out there. A glorious disaster! Where's Jebman? Lol. My street is like concrete was laid and then people drove through it before it set. NOW isn't permanent. The 4 feet of powder i experienced in NY was a walk in park compared to this monster lol. I've got about 10" of concrete on the ground and a sheet of clear ice covering everything. I LOVE extreme winter conditions. Hopefully we can get a couple feet of mid Atlantic mash potatoes on top of this.

Our road crews are working the best they can but this is very heavy sleet and snow.

No doubt, and no disrespect to them. Don't envy their jobs today, this is nearly a worst case scenario for road cleanup. I don't expect my street to get touched until later today or maybe even tomorrow. I'm glad we have supplies and my wife and I can work at home with the kids off school.
