Looking south….the Greensboro sounding is wild.

I am at 5 inches and snowing heavily.  Winds whipping the powdery stuff around.  No sign of sleet, yet.

Streetfight is the right word for it. Culpeper is back to primarily snow/sleet mix under the heavier returns. Accumulation up .25 inch since first light with what seems to be accumulating sneet. Very light ice glaze formed on the usual surfaces during the lull but no further accretion, and back to loud pings now.

Measured 4” on the dot in multiple spots. There is a bit of breeze, so officially a little higher, but my 4-6”+, anti-wimpy snow threshold has been met.

That 2.0 just north of Baltimore is wrong - at least not close to current.  That dot is basically my house and we had 3+ OTG an hour and a half ago. Haven't measured since but it's piling up. Has to be at least 5" and pouring snow.

Snowfall rates picking up nicely in central Balt. county. It really is wild to see just how fine the actual flakes are.

Yeah. There is a sharp gradient with the ratios with a steep climb in better ratios for north of I-70. Easily were pushing 18-20:1 in the initial part of the storm. They have come down even here recently, but it’s still probably a solid 12-15:1 for WV Panhandle across the northern tier. HRRR actually did a masterful job at showing this part on last nights runs. Very consistent. Impressed, but still have to see how the morning plays out. Fingers crossed for both of us and the northern tier that we can hang on till 11am-1pm before it definitely flips. Feel like Leonidas in Sparta saying, “HOLD” when looking at the radar lol

Willing to consider I don’t know what sleet looks like. Things are still flying in the air like snow but hearing more pings. Vis still noticeably fuzzier… maybe 50/50 atm?

It’s weird. I wouldn’t call what we have sleet here in Gaithersburg right now. It’s regular big flakes and then some rimed snow that’s very much accumulating.

I am cautiously optimistic for my area in Fallston we can hang on until 10 am or 11 am or so - could make a run at 8 inches if so…
