Always interesting to look at the ISO New England electricity grid data during these cold shots. Looks like New England will be burning millions of gallons of oil for power generation for the next week or so.  Natural gas gets priority  for heating and we fire up all the peak oil power stations due to pipeline constraints. Electricity is almost $1000 mwh right now. It usually around $25-50.

I will reiterate wind chill factor is under measured. Sitting at 5° with a light wind and no gloves. Perfectly comfortable. Last night at 14° with a 20 mph wind was uncomfortable to put it mildly..

It was windy this morning too, my hands almost got frostbite installing a shear pin on the snowblower.

-16.3°/-20 at 10pm. Radiators mounting up…SLK at -22. Meanwhile, down to -7.7/-7 at WXW1. Frigid until the clouds roll in.

If I did the numbers and record look up right, this should be the coldest day (avg temp) at SLK since 1/6/18. Pretty impressive.

Now a balmy -15F.

High 19F in E CT yesterday, dropped down to 4F last night but have risen to 7F due to cloud cover.
