This time yesterday the forecast had ne georgia covered in freezing rain. We have had just a sprinkle of rain a couple hours ago.

I wonder if NAM picked up the dry slot better than HRRR and RGEM. Im in S Charlotte and we've had nothing but brief and light sleet mixed with a touch of freezing rain. Not saying the heavy stuff isnt coming later but so far no glaze.

Roads are super slick in Raleigh. Pretty much 100% zr for the past hour, quite heavy a few mins ago. It's slowed down a bit but still audible over my game / windows shut. Might actually be sleet mixing in rn given how loud

And now dry slotted seemingly for a good lil bit. That's fine,I'll just keep drinking my whiskey and playing online poker while I wait for it :weenie:

Make of it what you will. Burlington,NC chain of events thus far…

7pm extremely light snow.

8pm light sleet.

9-11pm very light frz rain/sleet

11:30pm (with a noticeably heavier radar return) snow/sleet mix

Doesn’t make sense with warm nose building/thickening at a rapid rate but perhaps heavier returns will push us more towards sleet overnight and not all frz rain as is currently feared?

frankly I don’t know what I’ll wake up to. This storm. The nerve.

Interesting switch up here in Kernersville, its snowing again as best I can tell.  But its like pixie dust.  Now everything is covered in maybe an 1/8th inch of the finest snow grains I've ever seen.  And its blowing around too.  This storm is tri-polar!

Edit - I see in the foothills thread they are calling it diamond dust.  Sounds about right for what I am seeing.  We've had a little bit of everything tonight!
