lol this place is never happy

I mean yes, I’ll be happy to wake up to 12” of snow on Sunday morning but when I hear it pinging while I sip my coffee winter will be ruined

Just to address all the people who are saying that people are crazy for fussing about getting sleet on top of a bunch of snow...

For me, it's not about how long the snowpack sticks around. It's as much to do with the feeling of serenity and quiet and just sheer awesomeness of snow falling than anything else. Pouring sleet, while a neat meteorological phenomenon, is like enjoying the outdoors at a national park and then suddenly some dickwad in a souped-up F150 rolls up out of the forest blasting Kid Rock. No thanks, and fuck all that.

No.  Dodge Ram is worse.  Especially if its diesel.  But agree on Kid Rock.  or dubstep

Comparison is the thief of joy and in a vacuum we'd all be happy with the (current) modeled outcomes, but surprised you can't appreciate why someone in SoMD wouldn't be as happy as you might be right now. I think we'll all be fine but some folks are more on the edge here for totally understandable reasons.

I’ve been snow holed for 3 winters and supported everybody who got snow while I didn’t. Not gonna apologize for being happy about my chances vs someone else’s this time

hope it doesn’t sleet as much but snow is IMBY hobby.

I'd put money on the fact that the goofus is about to crap itself in the middle of this run. I'm waiting for it's classic mid range rug pull that isn't real lol

It literally gave 0.0 inches yesterday at this time to pretty much the entire forum other than the far southern folk so...not sure what more it can do to top that.

Man we have to worry about snow or ice. But this is the real threat right here. Hope they survive up there.

When i was on the Tug Hill in early January I noticed a really weird sound coming from the trees. I was walking on a snowmobile trail at night. It was dead calm but the trees were making a cracking sound like I've never heard around here. It wasn't snow on the trees or anything like that. My guess is they are frozen.

i'm going to shut all the blinds and curtains as soon as it starts because it will melt eventually and so the start of any storm is the end of any enjoyment.

and yes I am referencing a real post that was made in this community before a previous big snow.

Right, it's an IMBY sport. So you know exactly why some people would be less happy than the trend from last night - that's the only point I'm poorly trying to make! Hope you get crushed (and me too, ofc)

Yeah I do totally get it. Been on that side of watching models dump just to my south while I’m getting flurries. I want everyone to cash in, with limited sleet and double digit totals. :)

I don't think we will ever have a true solution for model run PBP organization. The solutions are either too strict or too loose. It's too hard to find a middle ground. On one side, I'd LOVE during storm times to see model PBP restricted to a group of like 10 perhaps trusted people (and have red taggers exempt from any restrictions, of course). That probably won't work though...

I'm all for encouraging a friendly environment - but there seems to be this sense that the youngsters feel they need to post as much as possible when they are excited to inflate their post counts. Quality over quantity folks! Being first doesn't get you extra credit or anything.

Like I've said before...I was in your shoes before too...a lot of us were, in fact. But you've just got to reign it in a bit.

@DDweatherman - I was in no way, shape or form "blasting teenagers" by the way. But there is a recurring theme going on and for those of us that ARE standing on the sidelines reading - it really, really, really clutters the main thread. I know you know that you and I were BOTH guilty of being kids in the past. But perhaps you and I have taken different approaches to this. Not saying one way is better than others - but as a POSTER, I all but try to disappear in the winter unless I'm posting obs during the storm. Posting fast and furiously and bantering in the storm thread is contributing nothing if it's lacking in quality.

List of people who should do pbp in order from best to worst.

Randy, North Arl, Snowen, some others that aren't bad, chatgpt, a jellyfish, me.  Right now bncho is like Sam Darnold on the Jets.  A couple more years and he can be like Seattle.

Also I think people underestimate how much time the younger folks have in HS/college to spend on the forums  - again....that was me in the past. I can barely stay up past 9pm anymore....and having a full time+ job takes up all other time.

I'll never forget being weenie tagged on Eastern. Put me in my place REAL quick.
