Depends on who you ask. My kids will gladly wear shorts to school in negative single digit temps. They’re essentially feral.

Just don’t break down on the way to, or back from wherever you’re going in those silly shorts in negative F temps …or your Fu**ed.  Tough lesson to learn if the unexpected happens.

I hear you, it’s far from ideal, but nobody cares about anything other than Dec 24 & 25. Given recent years, it just needs to not be awful.

If there are snow showers at 30° on Christmas Day that coat the ground, nobody cares about 50° and rain on Dec 26. It’s weird, but that’s what it is for most I would imagine.

Why bother

I just rather the ridge go ahead and take over rather than swinging wildly between 57 and misty light rain and faux swarm sector winds to 35° dry northwest flow and back and repeat? Fuck that.

If that east biased negative NAO ends up over N Europe … the mid N/A continent ridge will take over. it can’t trend anymore.  Two days ago when the NAO first showed up it was west.

It’s a lousy pattern…even if we sneak cold shots in and average normal. If you hate warmth, just be happy that ridge axis is shaping up more towards the MS valley. Maybe we can luck out, but it’s not great.

But you know it will just ride out as months of purgatory,  so we may as well hope, the pattern tends towards snowy outcomes for New England.
