I used to go to that area all the time, it's such a beautiful area (between Bayside and Great Neck).  I wonder how Alley Pond Park is doing?

Golf outing in Smithtown was rained out. Started raining on the first hole and by the second hole the entire course was a lake. 
 

ended up with 1.40” at home in Commack. We got the first sea breeze storm and then the larger storms later on.

Yes. There were hourly amounts of 5.34” and 4.37”. They occurred in back-to-back hourly periods.

Doubtful.  Aside from a few light sprinkles, it's over for anyone west of New England and maybe central/eastern Long Island.

Looks like almost 7" in a few spots between Yaphank and Brookhaven. 5" near Bohemia.

Here... 0.40", barely enough to get the soil wet. Bust/yawn.

It's likely correct.  I'm in Sparta.  There were two heavy cells that ran 15 miles to my north earlier, producing the nearly 2" total you see.
Then other lines to the south were also heavy, with plenty of dead zones in between.  I haven't even reached two tenths yet and may not.

The was more in Oakdale and Bohemia and other areas that JM highlighted earlier.  I had significantly more than ISP too.

As of 12:30am here, 0.28" of rain since midnight with temp down to 64.6⁰.  Still raining moderately for a little bit of redemption with the 24 hour total about 3/4" (much more 3 or 4 miles SE from here).

Not done yet and the lawn isn't complaining.
