40/70 Benchmark
I bet the segment of the population that takes the time to actually sit in front of the televison and consider folks like, @CT Rain appointment viewing is probably at least a bit more engaged and more mindful/knowledgeable hobbyists than the one that largely follows these social media goons. This is why there is probably a higher standard for accuracy for OCMs.

We got a new pup a couple of weeks ago. We were warned she was afraid of fireworks, but not thunder. We haven’t had much thunder but so far neither has bothered her. 2

I find it interesting that there can be such a severe cutoff. One place gets an inch and just a short distance away it is bone dry. It happens a lot, but so different than during other seasons

Yea, I know it happens, but its still eyebrow raising for me....even in winter it can happen. I was floored in Dec 2003 when I had like 11", and I drove like 5 miles southeast and there was over 2'...was nuts and infuriating. I also remember a hell of a hail storm driviing through Reading, MA when I was a kid, and then we got home in Wilmington, just over the line, and hardly a trace. That cutoff happened here earlier last night. I got a few fat drops and a mile away like .7". I swear you could hear it raining to my NW. Or, how about a snow gradient in your own neighborhood like on 12/20 last year? LOL. It wasn't just eyebrow raising...it was infuriating.

I guess some find it more interesting than others. In my forum (nyc), there is a guy about 2.5-3 miles from me in my town, and sometimes our rain amounts are vastly different, once or twice by over 1". Even in winter, sometimes our amounts are different by an inch or two.

Varying by over an inch of rain within 3 miles fascinates me. I remember the one time where the park is for baseball thinking 100% my sons games would be rained out since it was a deluge at my house, only to not get the cancelled call and going to the field and the dirt was dry.
