Weekend Drought Buster?

Euro showing storms entering the area early afternoon and then multiple guidance showing storms as we head into the late evening. For tomorrow, it appears there’s a chance the afternoon is more dry than wet so might be able to salvage some time outdoors.

Highest rainfall totals have shifted well North of the area into NE PA. and Eastern New York state. Of course things could change locally with heavier storms. Feels like a summer morning out there already with temp of 72 and DP of 64

The Euro mid range high QPF thing seems to be real and I wonder if it's a result of a recent tweak or software update.

Nah we're getting rain, the drier models have fluke written all over it.

Made it up to 72 around noon, couple light rain showers with distant thunder in last hour has dropped us back to 65.5/58.8 currently.

Nice little storm moving through Loudoun. Bit of wind, some pea sized hail, heavy rain, and a few claps of thunder. 

 

Hopefully just the start of a stormy stretch for the area.

Euro not good at times. I have not looked at the latest run. 

Meanwhil,e the WPC has trimmed back rainfall totals even more in its latest update, especially the Tidewater region. when you look at your local forecast and see odds of rain at 70 % equaling a tenth of an inch, pretty sad.

I just missed the heart of that nasty MontCo cell, and I am GLAD.  I got approx. 0.75" hail for a few minutes so I am thinking Clarksburg got it bad.  I do not like hail one bit after experiencing baseball size hail twice (Kettering, MD 1978; Orlando 1992)

Sun shining in the western sky and rolling thunder from the warned cell brushing by to my southeast.  Enough rain so far that the sidewalk just caved.

i’m just on the eastern edge of the warned storm in Jefferson County. the wind sounded like a freight train for a bit. i’m happy to be fringed.
