I don’t think anyone has ever captured the aurora with a saguaro in the foreground before. 2

Difference here is this is multiple flares… there are 3 coming. Tonight is the first and second, which might have essentially merged. Tomorrow is the third, which is also the stronger one. I definitely went out tonight because I didn’t want to count on a two-night feature, but real chance tomorrow as well.
mappy
Totally forgot there was a chance. Seems some friends in the area saw it an hour ago.

Bob Chill
Took a quick look 10 mins ago and was easy to see with naked eyes. 4 second exposure on this pic so obviously enhanced lol but I could see the red thru the branches with my eyes as well. Thought about running down to the lake for a big horizon pic but man it's windy and cold. Maybe tomorrow.

Third event in the last 18 months down here. Kinda pedestrian. Last fall was better hahaha

WxUSAF
Stronger CME should hit today sometime. So have to see how timing works out with darkness and cloud cover.
NorthArlington101
My current plan is to roll out before/during sunset and drive north. Hoping the traffic isn’t heinous. anything around a 12pm hit should be good… substorms lasted til like 4am for yesterday’s.
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Is tonight's supposed to be a little stronger? I might try to head over to Rock Creek Park where at least it's not sooooo bright. Perhaps on the golf course I could find a spot with a view of the northern sky.

I would say potentially yes - the prior two may have "cleared the way" for this one. However, if it arrives too early it might not be well-timed with daylight/night. So all is not lost if that is the case, especially since the days are short now. 3
