Glenn Fry is playing : The Heat is On.

Strong heat has come east and lingering around a bit through early next week.  Surges of the strongest heat tomorrow Thu (7/21) where mid 90s to low 100s and then again Sun (7/24) and Mon (7/25).  850 temps >20c guidance was hotter at points but either way near record heat likely those days for many.  Beyond there a brief reprieve in the strong heat but overall warm.  The Western Atlantic Ridge is building back by Tue (7/26) and it looks quite humid.  Outside some pop up storms here and there Thu (7/21) and Sun (7/24) not much in the way of forecasted rainfall.   We do have to watch any front getting caught up as the W. A. R builds west next week, way out there but it could be setup just NW of the area.

LaGuardia Airport had a low temperature of 80° this morning. The number of such minimum temperatures has increased dramatically in recent years, both annually and during July. During 1961-1990, there were 10 low temperatures of 80° or above. During 1991-2020, there were 38 such temperatures. Low temperatures below 60° have become rare. During 1961-1990 there were 16 such days. During 1991-2020, there were 4. Overall, the average July low temperature at LaGuardia Airport has increased from 68.9° during 1961-1990 to 71.4° during 1991-2020.

The July distribution of low temperatures is below:

Once winds go SW, ISP will drop obviously.  Question of when that happens, 1pm?

Well,  depends on strength of winds obviously, water temps are warmer then earlier in season though I'm sure that makes little difference

There is not much W flow in the bottom 2000ft today, even above the surface.  The Sea breeze should move fast today.  Might even make it to LGA by 18-19z

sensor issues. call the weather police

As has been posted before and I'll say again,  Newark geographic location allows to to exceed what other places would see at that same time.  Lack of ocean relief also plays into it,  if there's windy days, it clearly is more uniform. That region apparently lacks much wind.
