1/16-1/17 Event OBS

Recommended Posts

It was snowing but just a few flakes when I got up at 3:15 this morning and the temp was 35. When I woke up around 6 we had 1-1/12 inches just eyeballing it. Temp has gone down to 29.1 and it’s been snowing all morning, small fine flakes. I would love to see the larger flakes around here but I don’t think we are in the right location for that. Just measured on my deck table and measured 4 inches.

Still a few flurries in Duncan, SC.  I’m about 3 miles S of I-85 off of 290.

interested to see if the tilt now occurring will lead to more this afternoon...

IMBY - unscientific just under 5”

We are done. No pivots gonna save GSP area. RPM models had snow lasting till 5pm here, unmmm, no

wow, what happened to those "south" of I-85; marginal temps?

I ended up with 2" in Simpsonville so this map isn't accurate for storm totals

Thanks for the update from Eden, I've been waiting for someone to chime in from there. The radar looks good for a couple more inches in Rockingham County, so a decent snow event for sure.

realized that map was just 10am reports - thanks - nice event for everyone - including Mack?

Ended up with 2". What might have been? Not having 2 hours of rain at 41 degrees at start, and winning the pivot! Most snow in like 10 years

Good steady snow in midtown Raleigh. Not sure how the roads are, but there's *maybe* an inch, tops, on the grass and cars and such. Its still 34 outside

I was afraid of that Mack - YFF said 2-3” in Simpsonville!  Hope you are part of that or more!

Just got back from a beautiful walk in the woods.  It is a paste job like grit showed earlier.  Compacted 2.5", added another .25" or so to where I'm keeping track every couple hours so total should be nearing 2.75"-3" my end of Mecklenburg NW of the airport.
