Overcast here and windy.

First rain shower of Hermain just rotating through.   Street and yard getting filled with leaves and small dead twigs.  Latest gust was 37.

Surf along Misquamicut and Weekapaug beaches coming in groups of 5 to 8 swells every 2 to 3 minutes.  Wave heights about 6 to 10 feet.

Lots of surfers and onlookers.

Dickies today

It probably isn't significant meterologically, but as the sun set today, the sky became pink, then lavender in the east. Normally the only colors at sunset here are in the west. My husband reminded me that the sky became pinkish/purple when the last hurricane came through (was it Irene?). As for that gust at PVD, we had a really nice (strong), rather long gust here at about the same time, although we are miles away from Warwick.

Congrats to all you coastal folks. Sounds fun.   Too bad there isn't a webcam on Bretton Point in Newport.

we had an amazing sunset. My crappy phone pic did not do,it justice.   Clear skies to the west with pink and orange tendrils from the storm overhead.

Web cam out of Matunuck was cool today

that ship's been driving us nuts in NYC thread.  It's been stagnant data for awhile, and seems above normal when compared to the nearby buoys.

It might be really badly calibrated..it's track throughout the day -

Montauk buoy  just gusted to 48 knots and 15 foot seas seems ok
