This intrigues me. About 0.2" falls before 7z:

attachicon.gifhrdps_qpf_syracuse_22.png

It's a very strange scenario, and I don't know what to make of it. We're back to riding the northern fringe of this band, but its snowing nonetheless. Radar suggests to me at least that this band may end up going a bit north over the next couple hours. I'm going to have a very busy/rough day ahead of me tomorrow but the possibility of watching another 8" or so fall is tempting...

That map completely discounts really any snow in Monroe county. This band has been north of progs all day. Glad to see a model catch on! Good luck Fulton! You look to double down!

Pure whiteout to the point where I can't actually see the cars on the street about 100 feet away. Absolutely crazy. Seems to be settled in for a little while. HRDPS for the win here?

Nice man. Jealous. The stars are out in Rochester! NWS snowmap a huge bust for northern Monroe. Imagine any other part of the country they predict 18-24" and just 2" falls. I do love the randomness.

Sorry for negative posts, this seasonal 20" thing is getting hard to bear. Luckily, I can live vicariously through some of the posts and pics of the traditional LES posters. Keep them coming!

I understand. BUF has been frustratingly bad this winter, and BGM to some extent too. We'll see what the NW flow produces tomorrow, but getting Syracuse to 12" may be a stretch. The chief TV met at the college here just reported 12" of snow, and I'd imagine that's pretty close to being accurate.

If it's any consolation, I had only seen about 8" of snow to this point with the way my college schedule had worked (5" in Oz, 3" back home). Now if only I could get my classes cancelled...

Wouldn't doubt it honestly. Have to be somewhere between Oswego and Fulton where the snow never truly stopped. I've been watching Oswego's LES events for a few years and I don't remember a time where we were hit by a firehose type band like this...

Got off the phone with my sister in Parish.....she's "guessing" about 2.5', still whiteout conditions...

More precise measurement from my sister....since 4pm yesterday...38" ON THE GROUND....nothing on the ground yesterday at 3pm...so without an official measuring technique (i.e. clearing a board every 6 hours.) that 38" is probably more like 43-45" due to settling, and based on my experience that we lose 3-4" per 6 hours due to settling....she said that she "thinks" it was snowing near 6"/hr. late last night!!!

24-30" for So. Oswego, is laughable at best.  I understand its tough to forecast such a narrow corridor but I got 8", on the other hand places 5 mils to my North, got close to 30" as LEK stated above.  I just think they need to come up with  better method for forecasting these events.

The band dropped South and fizzled out unless its getting overshot by the radar and its hitting Syracuse and points South? Awesome event nonetheless and Congrats to South Central Oswego County!!

Sun's trying to poke out here in liverpool at work. That lake band looks like it swept south and collapsed, as usual. Seen it 100 times before. Weak multi bands look like they may be setting up now, with a stronger one up in central Oswego county where it snowed last night. This has the look of a 2-4" advisory type snowfall for today south of roughly a Fulton - Parish line.

Looks like the 00z Euro shifted to a less amplified and/or further east solution for the Tuesday system, more in line with GFS. Plenty of time left for model gyrations. Given the seasonal tendency though, you'd have to think Albany and points east have the best chance for a snowstorm out of the system.

Pretty harsh out there this morning, 8 deg and lots of wind and blowing snow. Guess this is mother nature's way of preparing us for the weekend!

With the 1" of new snow overnight, I've officially broken the 20" barrier for the season. I'm not really complaining, after last winter I've enjoyed the break from cold and snow. But it is pretty amazing to be sitting here, almost mid February, with only 20" of snow for the entire winter to date.

Some light-moderate snow on and off for the past few hours. Nothing significant though. I've heard reports of 24-32" here in Oswego. The snow likes to just blow away right next to the lakeshore, but I would bet a few miles south of here easily hit that. We'll see if we can add some fluff to those totals through the day.

This potential storm is the first event which has created enough interest to get me back on here this winter. The CMC looks very nice and the other models have a fairly similar solution. It's been so long since there was a nice inland runner.
