1/21/14 Snowstorm Observations

Reminder, you are supposed to measure total snow depth and the board does not get wiped more than once per day as per new guidelines.

I just measured 8" here in flat spots away from the house and trees.

Distance from structures is essential.  I suspect a lot of people on smaller lots are seriously over-measuring.  Anyone who is wiping a board more than once per day is also over measuring, and by quite a bit in this storm.

It's not over yet. As I posted earlier, the RAP showed snow building back into NYC/NE NJ around 11. It's just about 11 and look at the radar ;)

Short range models show another round of snow especially east of the city. The further east you are on Long Island, the better odds you have of still seeing a few inches. A band might be trying to set up from Monmouth into Queens/Nassau.

From Manhattan west, this mostly looks to be over.

I dislike the new guidelines but they are what they are I guess

Strongly agree and just said basically the same thing elsewhere

Im right next to Edison here (less than a mile from the train). I think if I remember you were on the other side by Plainfield? Im going with 11. Too darn cold to stay out too long. Measured in about 15 spots.

I'm near Arbor school, so yeah I'm pretty far away from you. Not unsual to get a 2 inch difference from one side of town to the other.
