RitualOfTheTrout
30.9 here, pretty icy outside. Looking ahead, been watching the 11-15 Euro ensemble talk over on PhillyWx, and it's like a tennis match. back and forth between warm and cold, currently a very cold look. There is also talk of an overrunning type pattern setting up. Sounds interesting, if you are on the right side of the fence an overrunning pattern can be nice since you aren't necessairly looking for a perfect storm track. I've noticed on the GFS one run looks near average to slightly above in the LR then the next looks pretty cold. Off Topic, but why do we seem to get these little wx forums that splinter off of American? Makes it harder to follow \ get input from all the Mets in different areas. JamieOber
I'm ready for some squalls later. Radar's odd. Don't remember ever seeing SE moving snow bands with a snow area moving NE to meet it.

Hopefully it stays white or stays away since that's around the first couple days of deer season. Already not sure what it's gonna look like up on Tussey Mountain after this ice storm haha. MAG5035
On this date in Pennsylvania Weather History... The "Great Appalachian Wind Storm" produced record snowfalls in Western Pennsylvania and hurricane force winds in the Eastern part of the state. A three-day snowfall total of 27.4 inches occurred in Pittsburgh, and 28.4 inches in Erie. Wind gusts of 76 MPH occurred in Stroudsburg, and 88 MPH in Allentown. (Nov 24-27, 1950) It's funny how things work sometimes, getting last night's ice on the anniversary of that event. Altoona was unfortunate enough to have an ice storm for that one also, and it was likely one of the worst weather events in the city's history. Below zero temps followed the storm as well. Pretty sure I posted this in a thread a year or two ago for the anniversary but here's the article for it. http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/content.detail/id/544686/Deep-freeze.html
