No flips yet.. Nice dendrites and 28.4. Maybe I have a quarter inch now.

SYR and RME are still snow at the 3pm obs...RME is actually moderate snow. They would probably flip before you so you are probably good for at least a couple more hours..maybe a bit longer.

Mitch, interesting upslope action for ya tomorrow.

Yes, saw that. 12Z NAM was rather bullish on the potential tomorrow afternoon and evening. Low-level temps are quite warm so I'm not sure how much of it falls as accumulating snow vs. non accumulating snow or even rain. First glance of the 18Z NAM is drier and doesn't have that classic upslope signature on the sim radar or QPF fields.

Weird that BDL hasn't reported anything...still overcast on the 3pm obs with no vis change and no RMK on if snow began and ended previously.

Will,

It;s been smowing here very lightly for the past hour or so. At 3PM, If BDL looked closer they would have seen small flakes.

"Just a quick heads-up about tonight/tomorrow's storm. We are expecting possibly significant ice accumulations east of the Green Mountains late tonight and tomorrow. First, 2-5 inches of snow will fall tonight, then change to sleet/freezing rain. One quarter to one half inch of ice is possible. This will lead to hazardous driving conditions and scattered power outages. As cooperative observers, we need your help in getting accurate and timely reports on where ice is accumulating and how much."

LOL, got that one this morning too. They don't do that very often. I usually take it that they mean business when they do. ;)

I think about what HM said in his most awesome post on the general board about how the whole pattern is changing like last year at this time. Remember we were all psyched about getting another huge storm on Feb 2 but it fizzled at the last second, according to HM the pattern AAM wise flipped, and model mayhem resulted. This year is totally opposite the pattern again has flipped but more towards last years 6 week stretch, model mayhem again according to HM. Today's Euro looks pretty damn sweet going forward, hopefully this cutter overachieves for some.

Our guy at work last week mentioned something similar. Basically how this Feb could be the exact opposite of last Feb At least starting out, anyways.
