80 Degrees to Ripping Snow: March 12th
dailylurker replied to SnowenOutThere's topic in Mid Atlantic
Still hot here. Windows are open. I'm trying to get that heat from yesterday out of the house. Bring on the rain/white rain. We need it. -
Temp has dropped over 10F here since 7AM
-
Set a record high of 81.0 degrees, old mark was 80 degrees from 1990. Crazy temp drop in last 3 hours, 35 degrees! Currently 39.9/35.0 with rain falling here at 8 am with NW winds 12 gusting to 20 mph.

I don't think you got the point he was making.

Rain/Thunder and Anafrontal Snow

yeah nobody said the city would see accumulating snow, you're just making stuff in your head like you always do. This was always a period of white rain and maybe a crappy inch or car topper for Long Island or the northeast folks! -
what is this rain that was spoken of last night? had a couple sprinkles that amounted to 0.00000000000" of precip
-
Rain and snow showers this morning along with blustery conditions. Temp has dropped to 38.

Hey, LWX says there is a 1-10 chance of 6” -
Nobody said accumulating snow, just some flakes in the air.

living the dream^

To be honest, that's the least of my concerns. Massive clean up ongoing around here from the tornado. Tomorrows winds to 60 mph not going to help. But throw a foot of cement on top of it all, not ideal. Of course snow is my #1, so I'm rooting it on, but just trying to be real.

Rain/Thunder and Anafrontal Snow

This was doomed from the start. Very limited QPF, fast moving, approaching mid-March, a purely daytime event with temps well above freezing, crappy lift in the DGZ and coming off 2 80 degree days in a row. It’s beyond me why anyone thought this was going to be an accumulating snow event Edit: @WeatherGeek2025 You said 1-3 inches yesterday -
Crazy weather. Snow on the Newfound GAP webcam and 33 F.

It will be interesting to see how this weak wave on the stalling front plays out today. Radar over the past hour appears to be stalling & building a bit in western MD & eastern WV, down through the spine of the southern Appalachians. Maybe the LSV gets a good period of wet snow later on?
