Got down to -23 that morning by me

As I get older and thinner this cold really just kills you at 530am. A few years ago this woukd be shorts and hoodie weather still. Now I'm in jeans, winter carhartt jacket and insulated gloves. 13 absolutely freezing degrees in Kearny, nj.

This storm is very similar to the late Jan 2010 storm. I had to go back to my archives but this is what the models showed then. This had less cold air to work with and we ended up with loads of sleet after an initial thump of snow. There was more confluence in the NE which def helped keep it south.

If this holds this is going to be a huge hit to the weather industry in terms of the social media group. Local Mets have been banging the drum against them for a while. This might be if not the death blow a big shot to the attention they get

Sitting at 4 below at the moment.

We got a few winners in the column this morning. I found the solutions late last night hard to believe where it had a cutter into a 1043 high. A more reasonable look with a costal transfer will be realized today.

6z GFS is a beaut. Looks like the bleeding may have stopped. Still so long way to go. Today is an important day for model runs

Not a big fan of the 500 low moving ENE over New England..vs under us. kinda handicaps any 2nd half storm potential for SNE. Hopefully an overreaction by Euro. I know,, still a decent storm. GFS/GEM better with that -
Gotcha- Great explanation, I appreciate it. Ends up being a typical Miller B storm for us then just have some blocking and solid HP which = No Bueno / Ice will be brutal
-
I like it this time of morning no legs jumpers, no big predictors, just a nice cool and smooth outlook. Good job, brother.

Low this morning was 7.1F. It has since warmed up significantly to 8F. -
Will, is the QPF map through the entirety? I’m thinking its hard for places to get 6” of snow off 10:1 ratios with .48 qpf…

Willing to bet this bombs out near Long Island and buries the region in feet of snow. Model trend is baby steps towards that end result. If this drops to 980 instead of 998, look out. -
Well its the Euro vs the GFS. hard to go against the euro though. It would be a shame if we wasted all this cold air and a cold ground. Both yesterday and this morning's lows were 13 degrees so far.

It has dipped to 12.9 at the farm in Louisburg and the airport is sitting at 14! Think that’s the coldest reading for both this season. Sitting at 21.2 here at home. Might fall a little more at both locations
