Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change

During the Strongest El Nino on record for July, too. The correlation isn't nearly as strong in the Summer, but generally La Nina's are the warmer Summer pattern, historically. -
Quite a bit of wind..what else is new

Yeah the HREF was onto that idea for sure showing very little TSTM risk east of about the mid point of NJ

The line extends uninterrupted from Philadelphia all the way to Roanoke. Yet a 2 mile split developed just as it got here, went poof, and immediately reformed and rejoined the line as soon as it moved east 81. Every fucking single time. This God damned place.

Had pea size hail at home with yesterday afternoon's round. The evening/night round didn't amount to much, kind of splitting by north and south.

getting dark here in mid staten island

Yup - it was almost constant for a few minutes, but we got split yet again. Received a whopping .22" from this one.

Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change

O....K.... Sorry, but lots of really wacked out stuff here. I'll happily buy land near sea level from anyone who happens to own it and shares your viewpoint. I kinda like the beach - good sunsets and waves and all that (to answer your "why" point). I won't, however, be investing in any boreal farmland futures. -

My streak of days of rain was broken today at 13. A storm did fire S off me late this afternoon. And I have a new wrinkle here at the house. Bears! Hit the trash container right next to the house last night and they have been around the last week or so with cubs. -

Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change
donsutherland1 replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
In the early release of data, July 2026 has dethroned July 1936 as the hottest month on record for the United States. With July warming about 0.51° per decade since 1980, the longstanding Dust Bowl era record was bound to fall. July 2012 narrowly fell short of the mark. July 2026 surpassed it by more than 0.10°. -
A thunderstorm started here a little before 5PM. Coming down hard!

I honestly did not see much of a couplet with the tornado warned storms earlier, but now near Joppatowne there seems to be a bit of rotation. We'll see what happens with the next few scans.

Across the street from me workers were on scaffolding that partially fell (per fire radio, I couldn’t see it on my side). This is in Gaithersburg. Sounds like they were okay. Saw fire equipment I didn’t know existed like an 18 wheeler truck (technical rescue 731).
