how do you feel about these ideas to drop insolation 1-2 percent by introducing SO2 particles into the upper atmosphere? it would have to be done on a yearly basis, beginning around 2030

that's probably why the rich guys want to leave the planet John.

I went less humidity but more heat.

Last year it was in the mid 80s around this timeframe. In 2023 we had highs in the upper 50s and lows in the lower 30s the first week of May. It varies wildly at times this time of year.

it goes beyond that, look into the gap in 100 degree highs at JFK, it's been increasing, currently we have set the new record for the longest gap in 100 degree days in station history. Ever since 1966 the gap has been growing larger. The oceans do absorb the heat but hopefully that is about to come to an end and JFK will once again get 100 degree days with a shorter gap like we used to before. The other sign is the complete absence of 7+ day heatwaves since 2002. These were more common in the 70s, 80s and 90s but we haven't had a 7+ day heatwave in NYC since 2002 (when we had two) and 1999 (when we also had two).

AA County seemed to be on a heater over the winter and early spring catching the scraps from VA. That ended lol. Hopefully that stuff down south of Richmond won't vanish as it crosses into the drought zone like usual.

They don’t look third world, they are. -
These aren't wimpy showers either...basically torrents. Judging by satellite, we might get a reprieve for a few hours before the next round later.

May 22, 1977. The day I chose to add 6" fiberglass insulation to the attic of our first house in Fort Kent. Fortunately, it was a small house - 2-story 18x20 - and I was done by 11 AM. Temp was probably 120+ up there by then. CAR temps 22-24 were 96, 95, 94 and the low on the 23rd was 69; that 82° is just 0.5° below their hottest mean.

Having a rough day here with cells training NW-ward missing me both left and right. Can't seem to catch one

Felt like HoCo had a good long run of getting some of the most impactful events in the region. Lol that has definitely ended. Lots of fringing in every direction for several years now.
-
Man you called it, that cell just blossomed over Urbana heading NW and it's pouring downtown again.

Thanks, Dendrite. All 3 NNE states set their all-time highest in July 1911. ASH hit 106, the other 2 105.

Picked up .33 in about 10 minutes from the edge of that cell that worked it's way through the middle of Loudoun. Also looks like a house a couple of streets over got struck by lightning

Central PA Spring 2025

Oh boy. My wife and I were at Sam Lewis yesterday afternoon, sitting on a bench. I'm enjoying the view, she's on the 'Book. She tells me that she sees something about a tornado in Lancaster county that had just happened...I immediately start laughing hard and mock her for her insistence on getting "fake news" on the 'Book. I tell her that there was NO way a tornado was anywhere close to Lancaster, the conditions weren't right, there was very little on radar, etc. I'm going to have to go home and walk this down now. Great. More ammo for her to get her weather info from the 'Book... This is "Day In The Life" material but sadly those days are over.
