E PA/NJ/DE Autumn 2025 Obs/Discussion
Hurricane Agnes replied to PhiEaglesfan712's topic in Philadelphia Region
2 years ago, some creature (either a rabbit or groundhog) got under my privacy fence and snipped off every stem of both my asiatic lilies and tiger lilies. Then they proceeded to eat my hosta like salad. Last year, my hosta struggled a bit but returned, but almost nothing of my lilies came back. I also had dwindling crocuses and snowdrops out front. So this year I bought a pile of bulbs (including 3 different types of lilies) and perennials for fall planting, and have been prepping the patio for winter. So have been busy! This morning's 40F just after 7 am, was my coldest low since April 18. I did make it up to 57 yesterday after a 43 low and it's currently 46 with dp 40. Am watching TS Melissa's wild, yank-to-the-north track and waiting to see if a faux Miller B type thing actually happens to interact with it. Right now, it looks like Melissa would absolutely devastate Jamaica if it rapidly intensifies before landfall as is progged. As it is, it's growing in size. -
Spooky Season (October Disco Thread)

38.2. Consistent nights below freezing don't look too far off. Seems like the big solutions for next week are disappearing but at least it's active. -
Cat 3, 4, 5... Whatever the landfalling intensity is, I'm sure much of Jamaica does not have infrastructure built to withstand major hurricane winds. Really hoping a worst case scenario (i.e. right eye wall traverses through Kingston) doesn't happen.

Chilly, but fresh…basically a majestic start to the day under partly cloudy skies.

First frost on the cars imby. Looks like Tipton got down to 32 again.

Pittsburgh PA Fall 2025 Thread

There was a freeze warning here in Westmoreland a week or two before this one, hence my confusion. I believe it hit it too. Maybe not enough to be considered "killing"? -
If a thread creates, it wont be until at least 6PM.. family considerations. I might post a one liner that one is coming, prior to 6P. Lot's of solution spread and that's why the ensembles are so timid. I am pretty sure the ensembles are too weak.

33 here. Close to the first freeze! -
Hard to believe no place in the country is forecasted to have below normal temps
-
You broke! I broke down and turned on the upstairs zone. Most of my outdoor stuff is put away and gardens cut down, I have some chairs and two outdoor speakers left. I keep those two out there as long as possible and will sometimes hook them up for a day in nicer weekend weather during the winter. Leaves are at least 90% done here, just one more clean up for those.

39.1 my low
-
24.0 this morning. 12 months ago this morning I had a low of 34. 10 years ago this morning I had a low of 55 with sprinkles.
-
It’s looking like this MJO wave completely dies in phase 6/7 then re-emerges back in the IO with another big drop in the AAM. SPV also looks to strengthen

I think last nights 0Z Euro run was reasonable - and I think a storm thread should be created if todays 12Z Euro run still shows something similar - at least a moderate impact event and possibly more along the coast which still hasn't fully recovered from the previous storm

McLean got down to 35. I had to head west down I-66, though, and some places reached 30. Beautiful fall foliage as well!
-
The Google model continues to not budge. Many of its tracks are south of west for the next couple days.

31.3 for the low!! We did it in Western Loudoun. Based on Dulles readings, Eastern Loudoun too. I guess that will end the growing season.
