Central PA Summer 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread
Yardstickgozinya replied to Voyager's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
I started landscaping a few weeks ago for a new client. I knew I'd heard his name before but I couldn't figure out where. Anyways it turns out he was three year starting linebacker for the Oklahoma Sooners and had a short career in the NFL before injury. Anyways, I thought that was pretty cool, but I don't share my client's names. Lol -
Maxed out at 94.5 here. Ridiculous but the front seems like it came through, already down to 86
-
I'll still take 48 hours and 3 feet of winter over none.

This makes me feel alot better. Only lost 50 bucks on the chargers. Pool is worth 30k. 25 dollar entery, bought 4 places. I put Herburt in charge of 2 of them. My bad. Chargers and Dallas, biggest fraud teams for the past 20 years. -
I understand that... what i meant is do I keep my spotter ID forever and not have to take another class or does NWS recycle them

I played golf at Bunker Hill today and was surprised that the course wasn't totally wet. It makes sense now after seeing this post. Perfect day for a charity scramble.

That's the point, that's climo. Our snow is like bananas...it comes in bunches. No bunches, no snow. True flukes here are 95/96, 02/03, and 13/14.

That was a fluke that saved us statistically. We had 48 hours of winter that year.

Winter 2026-2027 Speculation

60-66" at 10:1 not including March and April? Shit I might actually squeak out a seasonal (75" at my elevation) -

It's not like they had all offseason to come up with a few creative 2pt conversion plays when the game is on the line. When I saw that play, all I could think of was all the times I stuffed the Broncos in Super Tecmo Bowl when they would run that trash play. It only works if you execute blocks, so let's expose our weakest unit out there. Bates is 6'6" and 256 pounds, if you are going to use him, have him go two yards, box out and throw him a jump ball.

Forgetting, of course, that the warmest December on record at BWI, 12/15, was followed the next month with the single biggest snowstorm on record during a strong Niño. Not to mention the 3rd or 4th largest snowfall in 2/83 was an east based strong Niño. You should know better that's how it works around here.

Ice was pretty diffuse this year so the extent numbers aren't impressive. Too early to call the min quite yet as we're only about 20k above the 2026 min of 4.574 million sq km....but if that number holds, this would rank 11th lowest for extent minimum. This is for NSIDC (SSMI/S) extent....other sources like AMSR2 or DMI might be a bit different, but looking at them al, it's the same general idea. Extent minimum wasn't very low this year given the ice staying pretty diffuse and not compact.
