Same here. I am just glad not to be in a deficit as early spring was incredibly dry IMBY. Nice turn of evens. It seems like NE TN is often closer to drought than deluge. I am honestly surprised by the cool start to summer.

we hit 90 yesterday

still a chance at 100 on Tuesday for the city and western long island, looks like we are capped today in the mid to upper 80s because the sun is fighting through a high overcast. we were hotter yesterday but it was much less humid.

Sun came out, and it's stifling. Temp/dew point is 88/78.

That's getting up there. Lived in India, Thailand and Japan before. India was the worse of the lot when it came to HI extremes. As the monsoons approached the end of June or early July we had heat indexes off the charts used here in the US. 113 to 118 or more every day for weeks with growing humidity. It was like hitting a wall when going outside. Even inside my house the large split pack units barely keep the heat at bay. It was brutal.

EWR always hits 90 on marginally hot days. They should make it. But Central Park with 81 at 3PM and a high thin overcast is I think unlikely. Yes there could be a spike over the next 2-3 hours but I think mid-upper 80s would probably do it for today. Look for an extremely warm and humid overnight, however and temperatures probably to rise to 90-95 degrees by lunchtime tomorrow. I am comfortable going for a high temperature of 86 today and 93 tomorrow, 98 Tuesday. But we shall see how possible storms affect this. They should be well to our north mostly. WX/PT

Temp down to 84. Would be cool(literally) to get a shower, but they are weakening as they cross in into DE. One thing is for sure- the forecast didn't account for the impact of the clouds and the expected high of 94 is a bust.

Fake heat?

Been beautiful since late morning, say around noon, out in Suffolk. Nice sunny and hot and no sea breeze. Still humid so you can definitely feel it

CENTRAL PARK is currently running a good 5 to 7 degrees cooler then the rest of this region.

Late day highs as far as I'm concerned are still a bust. Peaking at 90 for like an hour when you spent most of the day in the 70s and some 80s and the expected highs were mid 90s+ and sunny produces a total different day perception wise.

Smokin'! that 12z NAM turns the dial on Tuesday. Jesus... about as hot as I've ever seen these grid numbers, and this is actually 00z Tues( 8pm Mon evening) 60000483310 -0494 132911 82342616 60000392512 00997 153109 82352716 that 34C is good for 37 in the 2-meters... so, buck-2 probably between 2pm and 8 oclock, and probably historic. I don't think the 24th of June is particularly tough to beat anyway, but how about 900 mb level with 26 and 27 C's ... This is pure heat.

Well ... these two late forecasts are both on the hot side, I will at least mention in scoring where they would rank if they had been submitted on time. But official rankings will be confined to on-time entries.

The NWS forecast often has upper 90s during these heat waves, but we rarely get higher than low to mid 90s.

The models yes, but some sniffed it out. Unfortunately, most did not have it in their official forecasts. The NWS did highly consider it as a possibility in their discussion. For most of us, it's just a "busted" forecast, but for those who ventured out into local waterways, it was another story.

Very humid...DP of 73 is the highest I've seen it since moving here nearly 3 years ago. Got my poor man's window unit cranked and so far, doing a reasonable job. Is it fall yet lol.
