I think 19.3" for your immediate area would be below normal. I think the average at PHL about 21.7" per year. -
Never. I got sick because I partied a lot the last 2 weeks. I absolutely hate Florida and could never live there

First half is a lost cause, which isn't news to me, but it sucks that most squandered December (I know it was great for CT...I get it). -
As would I

Awesome so basically 33 seasons out of 35 produced above average snowfall relatively speaking! Let's Go!! Every 0.6", 0.8" of snow or 1.4" of sleet counts! -
Folks should remember that the models were significantly too warm in advance of the 3 weeks starting Thanksgiving Week as well as for Dec 29th through today. So, they had been way off almost all in the too warm direction when they were off late Nov through today. They did a good job for the historic Dec torch well in advance.

Breezing through the records only seeing three colder Allentown Decembers in my lifetime and four with more snow 1995 ,2013 and 1969. 1989 was the coldest. 1995 was the coldest snowiest combo at -8.1F with 19.3" snow. -
Measured an additional 5" mainly yesterday evening and overnight. Storm total would be 12.5", which seems to align with other nearby areas. Pretty good storm overall! This puts me at 50" season to date.

For reference, here's how New York City fared in terms of mean temperatures following the warmest January 7-15 periods (1980-2025): Both the 1/1/2026 12z EPS and GEFS are quite a bit cooler than the lowest value on the above table. Below is a scatter diagram showing all cases, including the shaded region for the current EPS and GEFS forecasts. In short, even if the January 7-15 period winds up warmer than normal, as is now the consensus on the guidance, its warmth does not provide basis to write off all of January, even as a colder January 7-15 period has typically preceded snowier than normal second halves of January. Now, if the warmth reaches a magnitude much higher than the present guidance e.g., above 40.0°, then snowfall prospects for the second half of January would become markedly lower.

My tldr: it's been cold so far this winter. That hasn't been true the past upteen winters. Therefore, it will snow. Ps: i am unhinged from a two week work free, modeling chasing, unhinged gin fueled NYD binge, we're bringing this Nina home with a KU event or I'm going to lose it, mood.

Down to 14.0F already. Forecast low is 13. Still breezy. If wind dies with full snow cover and clear skies, it's gunna get colder than 13.

With 3 losses, Alabama shouldn't even be in this playoff. They got in because of their name and past history. They will soon have 4 losses. -
New Years Day 2026 - 1st snows of the new year possible
ScituateWX replied to Baroclinic Zone's topic in New England
Had easily 4 or so in Scituate had to get the plow out nice little event was not expecting that based on what I woke up to this morning! The last squall outnumber the top driving from Pembroke to Scituate some of the heaviest snow I’ve seen since probably the blizzard several years back. -
If this is true I’d gladly take the warmer and dry versus the colder and dry like we had last winter. We’ll have our opportunities in January

Hence why I said dust, lol

With the warmup ensuing after the first week and little qpf in the offing, it's starting to look to me like January may be a lost cause. The upcoming pattern doesn't appear very favorable. These little quick shots aren't going to do it. -
