November 2025 general discussions and probable topic derailings ...

Not reigniting the discussion from yesterday. Just clarifying my point, since you asked. These are from the start of the Russian/Ukraine conflict, only ones I bothered to reference. Lol @ inside info. Pointing our the irony of you calling someone a doomsdayer, and group thinker. -
That’s the worst possible height. You don’t get accurate wind or temperature measurements

Two things I find illuminating. You think snow even registers at all here. As if I would ever be like “well my country thinks it’s ok to say the most blatant disgusting xenophobic Islamophobic and homophobic filth but it’s snowing so it’s all cool”. And over the years when I’ve seen a blatantly conservative political point made in here I’ve never seen you say jack shit. Back when those jingoistic anti Canada posts were made they sat in here for days and you said nothing. All the times Howard goes on his anti government conspiracy rants it’s crickets from you. The climate denial posts which are also “banned speech” sneak in constantly anytime our diminishing snowfall comes up and nothing from you. Ever. Not once. But anytime someone attacks MAGA for their blatant bigotry you have a problem.

It's coming guys. This will be a great early upslope event.

2025-2026 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread

Definitely fun for you border guys !!! From GSP, a little snippet: Tight pressure gradient (4-6mb) with ongoing snow and dynamical features aloft will support sporadic blizzard conditions at the highest elevations (>4000`) along the immediate Tennessee border. Soundings from the CAMs are picking up on very shallow instability, which should only increase snowfall rates, especially in the favorable upslope areas in the Smokies, northern Madison County, and the Roan Mountain area. Perhaps an instance of thunder snow can`t be ruled out either, but good luck finding the exact location where this might occur -

Zero signs of a fast start to winter

0.30 from the rain

Awesome thanks! My station is about 18 feet off the ground, or 6 feet above my balcony since I mounted it on the railing. I bet my temps would be a little cooler if I had it closer to the ground.

That’s a reasonable assumption to make. I think we will see more bad winters which will drive us crazy, but when things line up….. watch out. I think its coming this year. -

Agree on all. Im thinking they fire Drury and make Sully GM/coach. They should trade Shesty to a win-now team for a nice haul. The Rangers are going to have 39 million in cap room this off season - which is one the biggest cap room budget in the league. Time for some shrewd managing!!! (Not Drury forte!!!) -
Some of theory has merit. It’s however just one factor among many. For those that like snow I personally still feel confident that for most of New England that this season will be better than the last few. Doesn’t mean it will be much better. The long range models continue to have a favorable pattern at 500mb look overall for the winter months. We just need some luck, which has also been lacking last new winters.

Revisiting the above post now that some time has passed. The general idea about being cautious about outlier model runs that lack support holds. Today's 12z run of the GFS: The National Blend of Models shows NYC's temperatures falling through the 50s during the showers/rain. That's somewhat warmer than previously shown on the guidance, but 40s remains a possibility. The outlier notion of an accumulating snowstorm is not plausible.

First of the season. High end is 3", lol. Who's ready for a season of heartbreak?
