Yeah it was a touch better for us. At this point, I don’t think we’re going to see huge changes but 25-50 miles or 1-2 extra hours before sleet can mean 2-4” more of snow.

I know that a difference of a tenth of an inch could make things worse or better, but we are really splitting hairs at this point. There will be power outages, treacherous roads, and super cold temperatures, especially early in the week. Folks should prepare for the high-end amounts (which I believe they have) and just hope it underperforms.

I think part of it is that the front end thump should have some high ratios and people in here assume that since sleet shows up that the whole storm is warm now. The onset is going to be high ratio snow and could pile up more quickly than people think. .

Yep. That happened twice, actually. January 3rd 2022 - BWI recorded 6.1", spotter report closer to the city was 5" The one we had early January last year: BWI recorded 6.8"...spotter report in the city wad 4". Now you see why I get cantankerous about this, lol

Depends on who gets the best rates in terms of the initial thump. Theres definitely a scenario where coastal NJ could get similar totals to NYC in this setup if their rates are better.

You know, the met collective could have just run with this a week ago and we would all be in a much better mental state.

Check out the precip types on that model. The totals shown do not match that or reflect the temperatures aloft. The snow totals are way overstated. They are basically another NAM - maybe worse.
