  1. Past hour
  2. Seems well forecasted overall. I feel like a lot of the forecast accumulation maps had a similar look.
  3. Making a run at the daily precip record of 1.80" in 1978 (for Jan 25), the warm sector phase of the famous Great Lakes blizzard of Jan 25-26 1978. That may have included a bit of snow or sleet but was mostly if not all rain in NYC. Also the snowfall is now (I think) ahead of the old record value of 10.0" from 1905.
  4. Got another quick 1/2” of sleet and back to snow. Driveway is done but i wont see blacktop for a while lol. Gonna finish close to 16” i think.
  5. Agree. Some will end up over 20" (glad I added that text in) but unless tomorrow is big it will be very tough for widespread 20-30". Can we get a weathertap radar update @ORH_wxman?
  6. Does anyone know radar estimates for precip? 1.5 seems high
  7. I'm in Hyde Park about 10 miles or so from that reporting station and I absolutely believe those obs. Visibility was 1/4 mile or less nearly all day. I have about 15 inches in 13 hours so I would say I agree with those obs.
  8. You know, I checked our playbill binder and we were for some of those dates LOL
  9. A good bourbon with a splash of ginger to top the day off and possibly saving a dogs life... enjoy the snow everyone, probably going to fall out soon...
  10. Flakes are pretty small here but it’s quite intense. Given we have another 28+ hrs to go with snow doesn’t seem like getting to the forecasted 12” should be very hard
  11. I'm with you, I mean we all rate an event based on our own sometimes relative metrics, but a 12in storm is a 12in storm no matter what hours it falls. Personally idgaf about official measurements either. I really only care what falls in my yard. Don't get me wrong, a big region wide storm like this one is way more enjoyable, but say the official site got 12 today and I got freezing rain? How does that official measurement do anything to satisfy my desire to see it snow? Heck, I'd trade a few inches less for cold before and after a storm. This event checked all the boxes for me so nothings going to bring me down on it that's for sure. I had a blast tracking it with everyone, and the excitement when it started moving NW and really hammering us is priceless.
  12. 8F/5F moderate to heavy snow (blowing and darkness makes distance visibility difficult). Guesstimate 13-15 inches, maybe 16. Let's see what the morning brings.
