Nice write up!! Thank you!! -
Impressive airmass for mid November. We're crossing the lunch hour and every mesonet site is struggling to get out of the 40s.

Lol..but the titanic sank before 1917. Or maybe that’s just it…no rhyme or reason.
-
Temp has dropped down to 41.0

Thanks! Yes, thats a burning bush. Its not my house, i just thought it looked cool lol. While the Fall colors are past peak, there are a few hanging on and they created beautiful and unusual scenes this morning. We had 2.5" total, but the first half was very heavy, wet 4-1 ratio snow in the morning, some afternoon melting while still snowing, then more fluffy snow in the evening. The excitement of the first snow never gets old. -
Cleared off in Asheville and 35. Lets see if the next round can bring another dusting or more
-
The Euro took the GFS to school on this particular event. The GFS even this morning has had trouble seeing this.

Winter 2025-2025 ....? What's the 2026 half lookin' like lol -
Great pic! Congrats on the fist accumulating snow. Snow on that, I'm guessing burning bush?, looks really pretty.

We went over to Tanglewood last night. I believe it was 72f when we left Greensboro @ 5:30pm and dropped to 55f when the storms pushed through around 6:30-6:45. Not overly unusual by any means, but was such a warm/mild day yesterday.
-
Down to 24 now.

Snowed all day here in SE MI yesterday and throughout the Great Lakes. Mid 20s with wind chills in the teens this morning and a winter wonderland. Snow is falling in KY and TN today and record cold is plunging into the south with freeze warnings over the entire southeast and into Florida. It's not going to last, and the east will miss the brunt, but to already see type a large cold snap like this before mid November can't be a bad sign. -
Impressive looking radar returns, usually strike out on these events. This one must be built different

Temperature has been getting colder all day so far here. Dropped 3 degrees since dawn down to 38 here. -
As we head into winter, it's a good time to rewind and recognize the ongoing HISTORIC snowfall drought in the Big Apple. Currently, the last 3 years are the least snowy such period on record, with just 22.7 inches. Central Park would need to see at least 5.5" of snow before the end of the year to surpass 1997-1999's paltry tally of 28.1 inches. Interestingly, 1869 had more snowfall with just 1 calendar year's worth of data, so even though data does not exist for 1867 or 1868, we can say this is the least snowy 3-year period through at least 1867-1869. Given the so-called little ice age ended in the middle of the 19th century, I think it highly unlikely there would have been a less snowy 3-year stretch prior to that date. So this is probably the least snowy 3 years in New York City history. Looking at the 5-year snow drought, not much better. Excluding period's with partial data (1865-1869 & 1866-1870, interestingly, the period 1867-1871, with just 3 years is not among the least snowy), only 1928-1932 and 1927-1931 reported less snowfall. Snowfall measurement techniques have been amended since that era, so they might have been somewhat higher if measured with today's procedures - perhaps 15-20 percent, per NCAR. An additional 2.8" of snowfall is needed to surpass current 3rd place (2020-2024). In any event, clearly the least snowy 5 year period in anyone's lifetime on here. Very impressive.

Hope you are right. Would love some mood flakes down here by the Lake.

Some snow flurries -
47 / 46 let us see if the clouds will break and that clearing west works its way east into the area.
-
Currently in a white out. The temp has dropped to 25.
-
It updated again though. The update briefly shifts trough west but then the -EPO comes back with a vengeance & it stays very wintry look through entire month of JAN with trough east. That is what led to whoever posted that on X. In the original X-post Roundy gives explantation of the tool: https://x.com/PaulRoundy1/status/1987512542269218907?t=NZtDEqvG5ceU83Q9TrzQ9g&s=19
