Not that it is uncommon, but seeing 85+ forecasted at the end of my 10 day in mid-sept makes me want to hurl -
I’m admittedly confused. Are we looking at the temp. data for the same place? Per my post from 3 days ago: “Highest and lowest recorded temperatures at Everest Base Camp (EBC) depend on which camp and which dataset, but reliable observations come from automatic weather stations (AWS) installed at the South Base Camp (Nepal side, ~5,364 m) and other nearby high-altitude stations. Summary of best-available values (observations and published AWS records, through May 2024): Highest recorded air temperature South (Nepal) Base Camp AWS: about −1.0 °C to +1.0 °C on the warmest days in late spring/early summer (typically May). Many published station summaries and expedition logs report peak values near 0 °C; a commonly cited peak is ~+0.5 °C. Slightly warmer spot measurements in sunlight or lower-elevation tent sites can exceed +1 °C briefly, but sustained, instrumented air-temperature peaks at the official South Base Camp are around 0 °C to +1 °C. @donsutherland1@Typhoon Tip

Folks would be wise to architect winter expectations around higher than normal precipitation, only. Leave snow out of it. Too many reasons to go liquid rather than frozen. -

NMME DJF outlook from the new england thread (no surprises):

One of those days where the sun feels great. But once a cloud covers it then it’s chilly

I don’t remember asking, but as I was reading your August summary above, I thought to myself, “Wow. I wonder how many times he didn’t hit 90 in August?”

Perfect night to curl up into a bed with 4 blankets until I wake up from a dream in the caymans covered in sweat. -

Sometimes forecasting is hard and a PITA. Sometimes its easy. in the case of this weekend, all you had to do was see the giant cold pool drifting southeast across the region -

Our beautiful near autumnal Labor Day weekend continues with lows in the 50's and highs in the mid to upper 70's through Tuesday. We warm slightly above normal on Wednesday before trending cooler again to close out the work week. Our next chances of rain looks to be on Thursday with the passage of a cold front. -

Just doing August numbers got me thinking about when @nw baltimore wxasked several years ago how many years I had with no +90 days in August, so I went and pulled it up from the August 2020 thread- "OK, years without a 90 or greater in August...2017, high 89.3 18th. 2014, high 88.2 29th. 2013, high 87.7 10th. 2012, high 89.7 10th. 2008, high 89.5 on 5th and 21st. 1982, high 89 on 4th. and this year, so 7 years total. LOTS of years with only one or two 90+ days including 1984, 1986, 1989, 1992, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2016. Hottest I have recorded is 102 degrees on July 17th 1988 and Aug 1st 1999, 101's on Aug 20 and 21 1983, June 30th and July 9th 2012 and Aug 17 and 18 2007." So, we can add this year with the 87.4 on the 15th, 88.2 for the 22nd in 2023 and 88.9 for the 10th of 2022. That makes 10 years out of 46 now. Weird how majority are after 2008, and they seem 'clustered'.

A break in an overall dry next 7 days here outside some scattered storms/showers on Wed night/ Thu. Rain focused into the Southeast, Southwest mansoon, PAC tropical influence and the much needed deluge over the canadian fires
