    1.95" here. Mostly fell as a nice moderate soaking rain. The ground absorbed most of it like a sponge. Stream flows are still low.

    Around 3.1 according to nearby gauges in Charlottesville, probably had some upslope enhancement, and there are still puddles on the side streets. Home gauge in NOVA shows a respectable 2.9 inches of rain as well. Do wonder if this storm bears as a forewarning of what we might expect this winter if we get more inland storm tracks due to a warmer baroclinic boundary pushing inland.

    After plenty of rain yesterday with between 1.5" to 3" falling we dry out and warm up through much of this week. Temperatures will run 5 to 10 degrees above normal through Wednesday but by next weekend we will drop to over 10 degrees below normal. In fact, by Saturday many ridge locations will struggle to escape the 40's with temperatures not far from freezing at night.

    If this happens, then I like 1983 as an analog for next spring summer (as Nino 1+2 really warmed in the spring of 1983), and 1987-88 as an analog for next fall and winter (robust 2nd year el nino that peaked early in the season).

    Still has an east based El Nino continuing in Nino 1+2 and 3 with strong WWBs by June. But notice how the CFS is much too cool currently in Nino 1+2. So we’ll probably have to rely more on the Euro which is closer to the current Nino 1+2.

    Impressive how most of the weekends this year have had at least some measurable precipitation. Next significant storm appears to be set for Friday. But the way things have been going, we could have some lingering rain into early Saturday.

    Ya, unfortunately for you guys, this one again was SNE centric. This was a very good drink…moderate rain for hrs all day…and then heavy rain all evening long…no breaks either just constant and continuous rain. It would have gone along way to help your well situation. Heh, you guys will get a two footer/30”er, and we’ll get 1-3” come January…
