I only have VP2 stations with fans, the rainfall amounts do get a tad higher in heavier rainfalls. I replaced my older station in Syosset that had tipping to the spoon one, still occurs. Maybe it’s where the siting of station is, as Muttontown one doesn’t seem to do it. I also wanted accurate wind along with temps, so have the sensors separated with anemometer on the roof above to a tripod pole grounded for lightning. Scientific sales website has good pricing for Davis, since Davis seems to be expensive compared to other brands.

This feature appeared at the very beginning of September and has basically been semi-permanent since. The models continue it right through mid-November and beyond. Should this continue into the tail end of this month, I think that would be rather significant. @donsutherland1 @bluewave

Do any of you who may be more professionally informed on meteorology know good ways to find private sector work in the industry or seasonal forecasting work? I'm in grad school right now looking around and it's tough to find some of the less advertised employment. What are your experiences?

Last night was one of those nights where my locale can radiate with the best of them.

Bright moon, no wind, low of 21, coldest of the season by 4°. 0.3" ice on the washtub.

Too many human beings. It's callous perhaps to put it in such terms, but reality and math and logic ...? they are dispassionately true like that. When there are 8 and some odd billion in population pumping out Industrial volatile chemistry as exhaust... it overwhelms the Earth's physical processes. If our species is going to survive by producing all that exhaust, there needs to be far fewer of us. It's interesting that we are being forced to make a choice between inaction and death, vs action when part of that action requiring less births/controlling population. Either way, less people The population correction is already begun, folks - it's just not striking everyone's streets at the same time. Some of which is happening unwittingly, by the way. It is now either too socially disadvantageous for younger child rearing, or there's gamete potency problems manifesting in general male population - the latter is cited/scienced. Birthing rates are empirically dropping at an alarming rate around the world. Whether it is socioeconomic, environmental, or some aspect of both ( probably both..) it seems the ultimatum cannot be escaped. And while that spectrum of causes isn't related to climate change, exactly, again ... too much population.

Never noticed a rainfall issue. The vantage pro2 is the best because you can separate the wind and temperature. Radiation shield also much bigger on the pro2 and you can get the fan for it.

Sun is returning this afternoon with highs near normal in the upper 50's. Similar weather tomorrow before our warmest day of the week on Wednesday with temperatures into the low to mid 60's for some great Indian Summer type weather. We turn much cooler again on Thursday with highs struggling into the low 50's for most spots. Our next rain chance looks to arrive by Friday night.
