  1. Past hour
  2. Definitely a deflector shield over the city. The streets of Manhattan are a bit wet but my station in Queens has reported 0.00" so far. Almost feels like a 7-10 split for now.
  3. Weird day here in Manhattan. Feels like there's a deflector shield up over the city - storms seem to dissipate or deflect north or south of Manhattan. We've had rumbles and showers, but nothing heavy let alone strong to severe.
  4. dark angry looking sky to my southwest with nothing on radar but just noticed another pop up developing south of 287 near highland park - plenty of thunder in the area - earlier pop up near piscataway plainfield now heavy precip near Elizabeth/Newark - another Flash Flood Warning there FFW from KOKX
  5. Man. If there is even a small chance of rain this summer......best believe it's gonna rain.
  6. Maybe we get the moisture from the El Nino but the cold and blocking from the La Nina.
  7. Meanwhile, please drop the Raleigh rain shield. There's a nice line of storms moving in from the SW and I don't want to see it die.
  8. Lots of thunder from those cells over middlesex/union counties
  9. Some may find this Univ. of Michigan study interesting... "...We don't see a time in the past where El Niños have been as strong as today, and we show that the strength of El Niño changes in parallel with warming global temperatures,..." https://phys.org/news/2026-08-el-nios-intense-years-previous.html "..This event is superimposed on global warming, and it's likely to supercharge the temperature increase that we would normally see from greenhouse gases. There are forecasts that we might get as hot as 1.7 or 1.8 degrees Celsius above preindustrial temperatures, which is quite a bit higher than the current record..." I've been saying this myself ... the super position of the +ENSO with CC is likely to cause synergistic results - they're naming temperatures. But, it's more broadly implicating then just temperature; put another way, makes us all prone to experiencing unusual event.
  10. Didn't realize that it was so warm! All El Nino minus all La Nina analogs for August before this year
  11. Severe Thunderstorm Watch is up west of Bay until 10.
  12. July and August near records for US warmth. Completely different from El Nino analogs, which are typically cool. All El Nino minus all La Nina analogs for August before this year
  13. took less them 10 minutes for that too pop thats why these type of storms are dangerous especially if you are walking outside and have no place to take shelter quick as these are capable of CTG lightning which we have experienced today already
  14. 2 inches of rain fell here at home today.
  15. 15-16 had a monster N. Pacific trough That 14-16 was a +PDO spike really gives some weight to the pdo correlation numbers.
  16. Drove through the hardest rain in a long time. Had hail on parkway in holmdel, lots of flooding in spots. Tons of ctg lightning. Cleared up in Woodbridge. Is getting extremely dark again to my south now that I'm back home.
  17. Same here. I think the I95 folks haven't been as lucky, or unlucky, depending on whether you like to mow grass <which I do not!>
  18. Thundering here for past hour or two, only .10 inch of rain.
  19. A pretty good cell popped up pretty much right on top of me. Heavy downpour but lasted only a few minutes. Looks like we'll see more later with stuff developing to the southwest as you said.
