None of the models were great 5 days out. The Euro AI was always further north and had a dry slot in eastern NC once we got inside of 48 hours.. It was way better than the GFS or ICON.

trudged into the woods and based on the stakes there, I have received around 10 inches maybe a little bit more. Moderate accumulating snow right now. Not sure where this forcing is coming from because it looks like the other forcing that we’re waiting for is in New York State, but maybe this will just continue to redevelop or develop and not stop before the 850 stuff gets here. .

I'd like to see some more precip blossom back into GA/SC, rather than depending on the ULL / late phase / negative tilt to do all the work here. I suppose I should just be happy it's still showing up for right now, but I'm greedy.

The Euro that had a massive snow storm for NC 4 days out only to change to a crippling ice storm 3 days out that ended up not happening either?

I did my last clean up around 6pm yesterday, it was still sleeting and ended up with about 1/2" of crud this morning. Metal flat blade shovels popped it up real nice. I have some neighbors that haven't touched their drives. They are HOSED.

Also if people waited til it was all over there would've been compaction from the sleet but I'm not sure if you're supposed to clear the board when the snow stopped and then add the sleet to that total

I only care what the Euro and Euro AI say. They led the charge with this previous one. Euro AI did especially well.

Euro, ICON and more importantly the new king the WeatherNext all have a big storm this weekend. Only 5 days out. What could go wrong?

The setup reminds me of a couple of classic central and eastern Carolina snowstorms in the past. Maybe east TN can back into a decent snow? I'd say this one has high whiff potential, but the high end of what could happen is a high ratio super cold snow (which we rarely have any chance of seeing outside of northwest flow)

I am happy with what the models are showing at this point. Personally I would like to see an earlier phase and a Miller A evolution for those of us in the western parts of NC and SC. But I am greedy that way...

For the next day or two I would lean more weight towards the ensembles, both AI and traditional. If we start seeing a better clustering for the coastal low, and perhaps it climbing the seaboard more, then it's likely game on.
