That was from Wednesday night. They had some storms rain themselves out. There was a car dealership ( new) that had about 40-60 cars destroyed! The water came up to the bottom of the windows and the loss of inventory was about 2.5 million!

From the looks of it I would say that was one or more of those large metal culverts.  Some engineer underestimated the flow in severe events and this is the result.

If somebody could post the rpm animation? In here or the flooding page!? It's pure insanity! Cantore just showed it and specifically mentioned Greenville, Columbia and Athens! Said he is very concerned for this area, and for people going to the Clemson game tomorrow ! They said on our local news that they expect 300,000+ people to be around the stadium tomorrow , because ESPNs College Gameday will be broadcasting from there! CGD said they will be there no matter what and are already set up. Clemson says they are planning on playing the game, but will cancel if the weather seems to be a danger to their fans or players! Rain has stopped here for now

There are alot of culverts like these around here! Everyone jokes about SC roads, they are bad and seems as if they may cut some corners, guess we will see what happens the next 48 hrs? Atleast we have cheap gas and no vehicle inspections! Winning!

It happens a lot.  Many years ago in Boone they decided to cover and pipe "Kraut Creek" that ran through the ASU campus and use the area gained for parking.  While the engineers with their clipboards were directing the placement of the large culverts, old mountain dudes in their bib overalls would gather shaking their heads and saying there was no way those pipes were big enough.  The engineers, of course, disagreed.  Less than a year later a storm came through that totally ripped every section up out of the ground and in the process destroyed numerous cars, flooded the gymnasium and took out the two roads that ran across the creek.  Math is good, but sometimes common sense is better.

Math plus common sense is the winning equation.

1.6 here so far (i starting checking last night about bed time).  after all the rain the last couple of weeks, yards are already getting water covered, as are the roads.  if we end up getting the heavier amounts it could certainly be interesting, to say the least
