It's funny after the last 2 winters everyone is convinced the CT river valley is this god awful snow pit... when actually they do pretty well. BDL averages almost 50" per year which isn't so bad!

It doesn't feel that way when ORH, the Berks, Tolland, and interior SE mass are giving themselves high fives as some sick meso-band with thundersnow is burying their foreman grill, and I'm seeing the sun poking through and trying to decide whether I'm looking at flurries or it's just the wind blowing stuff around, slant-sticking 9" in a drift against my windshield.

One or two big storms or an abnormal pattern can ruin a seasonal forecast. Its just like a severe weather season. I just think its excessively premature to count a season out in a science that is so far from perfect.

The SE ridge will be flexing it's middle finger at me many times this winter.

lol well that was last winter.... our time is due. It can be a little bit more frustrating up by you because the downsloping can be more pronounced than here in CT where the terrain isn't as high on either side of the valley.

It was so close for you last year . Just the one event I'll never forget that we had here in Orange county NY and the R/S line was just to the east of me. Hope you get one this up comming season. :)

Wouldn't be surprised to see some -FZDZ by morning.

My forecast has snow and sleet then freezing rain and rain. Looking at progs, there's no way we see any pure snow with H85s rising above 0C but I bet a lot of the interior from the East Slopes of the Berks and points north/northeast see some light freezing rain or even sleet (good cold hanging tough at 950mb) to start the morning off.

Ginx... not sure if you have a coastal flooding fetish to go along with the hydrology and "heavy heavy low level cold" fetish...

But here's a page I put together on my website that may be of interest to you

http://ryanhanrahan.wordpress.com/coastal-flooding-records-benchmarks/

Also put some Hartford area records up that are difficult to find on the NWS page

Awesome job on the records page

You should add some severe stuff like:

Most confirmed tornadoes in one year

Most confirmed tornadoes from one event

Largest confirmed hail reports

The Tides on line Web site is very interesting, the Christmas 94 surge in New London was impressive. Open ocean sites in RI yield some wild records from surge. Cool stuff, your records section on BDL shows how it used to snow up there, nice yellow tie by the way.

Thanks!

What was the 94 surge in NL?
