Heavy rain, gusty winds, and lots of lightning with this little storm near 78. Not bad for a pop up storm.

Didn't expect the pop ups.  It also looks like the storm up north is intensifying a bit and developing back to the south.  I might get clipped by it.

I was watching the lightning from that cell in the northwest sky. I see a few little downpours to the west in Somerset County -- hoping to get one here in a little while.

Same here.  Getting CLIPPED by small fast moving storm just to my south.  Brief heavy rain but moving through fast.  Lots of lightning to my north and south with rolling thunder.

I am forced to eat my previous post.  It is ripping up here, 60 lightening strikes in the past few minutes according to accuweather.  Torrential rain, and wind too.  Really blew up again for some.  My rain gauge is out of commission, but underground stations around me are showing over 1/2 inch and counting.  It looks like upwards of 1.5" out towards Sandyston where they also got the first batch earlier.

Crashing thunder and vivid lightning display off to my north now.  Just very light rain here now.  The downpour lasted 90 seconds. Small storm fizzled as it past just south of me.

Yeah getting a heavy downpour now with a good amount of lightning and gusty winds. I wasn't optimistic earlier so I'm very pleased to be getting something.

We are.  That storm to the north really blew up and developed a nice southern component.  The lightening has been non-stop and we're past 0.6" of rain according to two nearby gauges on weather underground.  Lots of rolling thunder now.  Our dog is having a rough go of it.

0.35" from that storm. Not bad. Obviously doesn't put a dent in the drought, but enough to give the vegetable garden a much-needed watering. For a change I won't have to water tomorrow.

Sw Nassau just got rocked by a pulse cell. Small hail and extremly heavy rain, very brief 50+ mph gusts. Literally appeared on radar after passing jfk. That was an amazing surprise

In New Jersey, severe drought expanded across much of the northern portion of the state and into New York and eastern Pennsylvania. Abnormally dry conditions expanded across southeastern New York, while moderate drought expanded in southern Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Severe drought also expanded across eastern Massachusetts, eastern Rhode Island, and portions of eastern Maryland. Extreme drought was introduced in southern New Jersey and expanded into Delaware and eastern Maryland. A combination of short- and long-term drought is affecting agriculture as well as groundwater and surface water resources throughout the region.

Additional rain chances over the next few days.  Will be localized and some locations will do better than others but some heavy downpours possible in spots for sure.

Good morning BW. Sadly and I mean this for city residents only. Central Park, at least, in the warm season is not a typical indicator of what our five Borough folks are experiencing, temperature wise. Newark and our airports set records and yet our official  high temperature is 91. The dryness concerns me as I believe we are near six inches below yearly average rainfall to date for the city. Stay well, as always ….

79 / 71 partly cloudy here a bit more cloudy north.  Hay - Hot - humid low - mid/upper 90s tody.  More storm chances.  A bit drier / cooler Sat / Sun upper 80s to low/mid 90s i the hottest locations.  6/15 - 6/17 cooler, warm back up by the 18th and overall warmer beyond there by way of mix of some near normal - below and shorter intervals of heat.  Ahead of next month next heat surge.
