Winter 2025-26 Grading

Grade: A

47.3” of snow, 2 major snowstorms including a blizzard, plenty of cold and saw thundersnow for the first time in 8 years. Would love to get to 50” but I doubt it

A-

2 week warmth in January, followed by 70 air in early March really pulled down the grade. The early warmth really killed ski season after a great year and that particularly annoyed me.

There was also a 3 week period of clinging to old snow in extreme cold that was saved by a January storm

A very good winter indeed, based on 66 years of observation.  In relative terms it was an "A".

Seems like they all end early these days....we got the 2/22 storm which really saved things, but typically seems to wind down late Feb-when was the last time we had March snow?   2019 here.

B+ seems right.  Nothing wrong with that, just not quite top tier for snowfall or cold.

March isn’t meteorological winter. 3 below average temp months in winter and well above average snow (Central Park probably has over 45” given undermeasurements) makes it high end.
