Summers have gotten shorter with all the bogus cancellations for a minor winter event not to mention all the holidays they have added in recent years

I wish here. We went back August 22 I believe this school year. Our newer superintendent likes to get out early June which initially created issues with summer camp. We have been out by June 10 the last few years my daughter graduated on June 3 here year. We have an extended weekend for February break but other than that no new holidays here

Labor day was early this year-so later start this fall.  They've added Eid here but we are still out by about 6/10 or so which isn't bad.  Never understood why a full week is needed in some places in Feb 6 weeks after winter break-maybe ski industry lobby?

This is what my district does, but we still have a full February week. I’d still rather start and finish later.

what's even stranger is who is advising them to close or dismiss?  Was happy our super went with a regular day here-they usually don't do that and jump on board with all the other ones making the wrong decision....
