January 18th Back Door NW Trend Snow OBS Thread

Have pancakes flying now with SN & fog, and am up to an inch with this round 2 (2.5" for the 2-day total so far).  Temp still holding at 32 with dp 32.

Some backbuilding happening in Upper Bucks as per radar loop. Hrrr looks decent for wave 2...this is 4pm depiction

Another 2” on top of about 6” yesterday. The snow that’s falling now is very difficult for the radar to pick up, but it is steady. I am praying for a back build later on!

EPAWA is usually spot on but when they put out this map I was like WTF are they thinking. I suppose round 2 could still beef up totals for their D and E zones but they severely underestimated the western extent of plowable snow.

Not much better than a Sunday morning snow walk. Round one tapering now, calling it at 2”. Pleasant over achiever again. We had heavy echoes from 7-9. I think we were close to the changeover line based on the flake size.

29F looks a wrap for us out here 2” storm total for today, snow on snow nice white weekend.

EPAWA is usually spot on but when they put out this map I was like WTF are they thinking. I suppose round 2 could still beef up totals for their D and E zones but they severely underestimated the western extent of plowable snow.

I guess that’s what happens when you use ensembles within 12hrs of a storm

yep I have just about 3 inches today.  9 inches in  24 hours-  I will take.   I am not cleaning this stuff until I see what happens this evening- it maybe all for naught. Could have 12 inches by this evening from this two day storm event on the ground the way these storms are going.  Somone in the NE is going to get whacked with a norlun trough still.

 I agree- way too conservative and Bobby has not the experience of storms like this. This sscenario happens only a few times in a decade.  In his next breath, he will now call this an overperformer- in whose eyes though?- not mine.  I called it for my township on the nose.

Judging by the HRRR looks like round 2 starts around 2 pm or 3 pm and goes until about 7? Game for that. Also looks like we’re probably going to at least flurry all day in between.
