EarlGrey
I’m quietly hoping for a nice snowfall. Don’t really care about accumulations but something to look at out the window is nice. I keep seeing increasing amounts so while I won’t get my hopes up too much because I know how these things can go, I’m all in on something happening. It’s been cloudy here all day so while the temps are higher than what’s optimal, the ground shouldn’t be too warm so if a band sets up for an hour it’ll cool off fast.
kvegas-wx
Sure does seem like the cold is bottled up in the ohio valley and is going to arrive late. Temps above forecast in NC today. We're going to lose almost all of the available QPF to rain at this point. Cold chasing moisture almost never works out here in central NC. So I'm struggling to see how it works out for our GA peeps. What is going to trigger the front to hightail it SE? We're only talking 6-8 hours of moisture here.

olafminesaw
GFS at 18z (6z run) vs actual. Handling temps well so far, just a little too aggressive with the cold front

Handling temps well so far, just a little too aggressive with the cold front That "little too aggressive with the cold front" is what is likely to ruin it though, at least for the Triangle East. You have a bit more buffer.

If anyone deserves a storm or at least some flakes to get out and walk in, its Larry with all the work he puts into other people's storms. Also sending hope to everyone else down there. Growing up in Middle GA was brutal when it seemed like every snow map on WMAZ showed snow ATL and above. Clemsonlady
I know none of you personally but love all of you virtually. This thread has been nothing but a basket case and it wouldn’t be fun any other way. Biggest improvement with SouthernWX s creation is moving the egos and the “stay on topic” boys that used to be on this board there and making this a truly unhinged, unmitigated, anarchist discussion. I hope you all know… I do not comment often… I truly trust all of you with all of my weather!.
BooneWX
Wild ride of a week. It’s crazy how moisture was the biggest question all week and we thought the cold would be in place but man that front is dragging a**.

NGTim
10 minutes ago, Clemsonlady said: I hope you all know… I do not comment often… I truly trust all of you with all of my weather! . LOL i agree, but, it seems like, in addition to the exact right combination of moisture and cold, one pre-requisite of a good storm is there has to be one big dust-up in the forum, and someone get kicked off, or almost kicked off the board. I thought 316 and somebody else were going to do that a few days ago, but they were mature and wound up with a civil discussion. I don't want to get kicked off, but I think if that discourse had gone off the rails, maybe the storm would have overperformed for everyone ;-)

olafminesaw
Something to keep in mind Tommorow, there will likely be two pushes of moisture, one in the early morning and one early after noon with a dry slot in between. The early afternoon is the more likely period to see snowfall/accumulation so patience will be key.
