I figured JFK would come in with a total of over 4". Most of the boroughs has anywhere from 4-6", with 3-4" more common only in Manhattan. Aside from LGA and CPK's notorious undermeasurement, this was a pretty good forecast for most of the area. In fact, most places overperformed just to our north, east, south, and west. Pretty much an overperformer for everyone except the boroughs because of UHI.

Nice event out here.  Sat at 34 degrees for 11 straight hours and still got over 6".  Have some branches down.  Current temp is 29 with flurries.  Most snow I've seen since Jan 2022.

You stayed warm out there. Ground being frozen definitely helped with stickage

Yeah this is the best event for most of us since Jan 2022, although many also saw similar totals with the 2/13/24 storm (I believe that was the date) that was a widespread 5-8" for most but similar to this storm, was a 3-5" for the boroughs because of UHI

Lol the park with 2.7”

They actually came in 0.1 higher than LGA.  You can see a noticeable dip in accumulations in NE NJ near NYC into Queens/Brooklyn.  Some of that was the heat island but some also was this area got hit by subsidence somewhat.

Reminds me of the early Jan 2022 event before the major storm at the end of the month-I think that was also about 8” here. This is definitely my biggest event since that storm though, 2/13/24 was 6-7 here”.

There was nothing wrong with your reaction. The Park under measured . They under measure 90% of the time. They've been doing it for years and it's become worse the last several. I basically ignore their totals now. They are virtually meaningless.

I got between 5.5 and 6 inches of snow depth right now in an open area on packed soil (not grass.) I'm in NE Queens.

And I thought I was getting shafted for awhile early this morning.

I have seen video from Central Park and it clearly shows more than 2.7 inches.

And this is why the arbitrary 4 inch measurement record is still alive and well (and why it's also bullshit.)

100% I am not longer considering the 4 inch record as relevant.

5.5 inches Bayside, Queens 1:30PM

Yep, same here in Bayside. Reached just about 6" on the dot around 11:40. Has compacted about 1 inch or so since then. Lots of 4-6" reports throughout the boroughs except a few pockets like CPK, LGA. But is is NYC's official measuring site so for all intents and purposes, when people look back on this storm in the future, they'll think we all only got 2-3" lol
