Power was flickering on and off. Street lights went out for a few minutes. It's not even windy over here lol

I have no idea how much snow you have, but  shortly after my observation of  bamboo snapping hardwoods and coniferous trees started dropping limbs.I heard some heavy limb falls On, my walk and they've only been increasing in frequency while i've been out shoveling.

Here's my climate summary for yesterday, Feb 22, 2026 in Carlisle...(sorry it's a tad long, but I needed to do something to make up for the miserable snowfall)...

At midnight the temperature had finally dropped to 32.0 degrees.  Finally!  During the hour between 11 and midnight the light snow picked up a bit in intensity such that an additional 0.2" of snow was recorded.  At midnight it was still snowing lightly.  This brings the daily total and storm total thus far to 1.8".  This morning 0.1" of snow was recorded before noon.  During that time the snow was melting as it hit the board.  In addition, light rain also fell, occasionally mixed with a few wet flakes.  The qpf from the morning precipitation was 0.14".  For the afternoon the temperature slowly continued to climb, reaching a high of 36.5 degrees around 3:00pm.  Roughly 90 minutes later the temperature dropped to 32.9 degrees and pure snow resumed, primarily light but hard enough to start whitening the ground.  By 6:00pm 0.3" of new snow was recorded.  The snow then picked up in intensity rapidly, becoming heavy for nearly the entire hour between 6:00 and 7:00.  1.0" of new snow was recorded.  The temperature during the entire hour was 32.4 degrees.  After that the snow diminished in intensity and then remained light for the remainder of the evening.  At 8:00pm an additional 0.2" of snow was measured.  Then, for the next 3 hours snow remained light but no new snow was recorded.  During the afternoon and prior to the snow beginning to accumulate again, another 0.16" of qpf was measured bringing the storm qpf total to 0.30".  At midnight the 1.7" of snow melted down to 0.32" of liquid, bringing the total daily qpf to 0.62".  Finally, the SLR from the 1.7" of snow producing 0.32" of liquid was an abysmal 0.53 : 1.

I'm went over 4" close to midnight. Light to moderate snow here still. My prediction was 4". Maybe I can squeeze out a bit more. I'm guess I'll end up with 5"-6". Which the euro had been spitting out here for a number of days. Still not a lick of wind. That is surprising

I had maybe 3 inchs on the grass and a very sloppy inch and a half on the road and sidewalks on the way out. it was laying pretty good on the way back but didnt bother to measure

So the amount of snow I went to bed last night to is what I woke up to this morning. I measured 1 inch on my backyard sidewalk, and am eyeballing about 2 inches on cars and other unpaved surfaces. Holy hell, what a storm. I'm not sure where I'm going to put all this snow when I go out to shovel it.

I have to give the NWS credit, in their snow forecasts other than the point and clicks which were giving me 6-12, I was in the low end of 1 inch, expected amount 10 inches,  and high end 18 inches. Well we did get into their range....barely.

Ok, not sure what's going on. Got a moderate snow with big fatties falling, yet there's nothing overhead on radar. Must be low topped clouds under the radar beam.

Anyway. I just measured 3" on the hood of my white GMC Terrain that didn't go anywhere since 8am yesterday. So I suppose it's sort of a white board...lol.

8am Obs:  Very light snow continues as .8" additional has fallen since midnight, for a snow total of 3.4".  Temp is still at 31 and never dipped below 30 through the night.  A beautiful pasty snow but an underwhelming storm around these parts, at least compared to what could have been.  Happy for those to the west who did better than imagined.

Had to run this morning so didn't have a chance to measure, but about 3" on the driveway so had to grab the snowblower as it was very wet and heavy.  Thought I was just going to scrape it quick and that didn't work out so well... Looks great.  If 3 on driveway, guessing 4" or so on grass which is better than I would have guessed when I went to sleep last night.  Very long duration light snow through the night got the job done.  May have missed the bigger snows, but always nice to see it come down whiten the world for a bit.  Live about 3miles NE of Lancaster City.

Big storm to the east, IVT to the west - stuck in the middle...

29ºF and snowing decently at the moment with the band that just dropped in from the north. This stuff looks like it has some enhancement from Ontario with the due northerly fetch so maybe it’ll actually do something this morning. For now 1.2” fell overnight to bring storm total to 2.5”. Been pretty breezy with a high gust overnight of 35.6 mph on the station.

Gonna have a look at totals vs the map I put out when this thing completely wraps up.  Did not expect the York/Lancaster realm to do as bad as it did. I knew it was boom or bust potential there but I expected at least warning criteria to be met there fairly easily. The temps were an absolute killer yesterday with the lighter precip phase of the storm. IVT set up further east as noted and I think the storm really exploded just a hair late.

It is living up to its billing in NJ/NYC/LI and beyond. There’s already scattered 20”+ reports in NJ and LI, as well as a 71mph gust on the tip of LI. Official obs in Central Park, La Guardia, and JFK all reported 15” or so around 7am with a good bit of snow to go.

2” give or take for the city.

I aM quite surprised by the busts out in Lancaster County

Eyeballing 3" at my house and maybe 4-5 at my sons in Ephrata.  Sucks to be so close to something so big.  It happens, onward...

Driving to work and there is a big difference between York County and Lancaster County.

Lot of 5-6" reports from over there. I must have just caught some of that heavier stuff overnight. I was shocked when I went out early this morning. I easily had 4" on my car.
