Here in Carlisle at 5:30pm...it continues to sleet lightly with still no signs of snow.  During the past 90 minutes I have recorded an additional 0.2" of sleet.  This brings my storm total to 7.1".  The temperature has risen barely, up to 13.1 degrees F.  It sounds like there may be another shot at some accumulating snow later this evening.  I'll have another update around 7:00 unless the snow returns before then.

@canderson

We are alive & well in the MDT measurement contest. The 5 pm climate summary has MDT at 11.0 today.

If we get another inch or so with the last part of the storm, you & I will be battling for the crown!

We will need to see what they officially put in the books overnight, but usually it’s close even if they make a slight adjustment.

I think we do get 1-2” wraparound snow. We’ll see!

Sleet has slowed down some. Looks like the end is near.

The nam somehow managed to nail the thermals but still finish close to the bottom if not totally at the bottom with storm totals with 7" predicted

Yep. That's why I said at lunchtime that I feel the NAM excels at thermals. It's an elite model for a very specific purpose. MillvilleWx just commented on that in the MA thread.

Seems like we go through this with every storm. NAM is ridiculed by so many but for Miller Bs and a primary west of us I will take it to the bank. Though to be completely truthful...a lot or times it actually underdoes both the extent of mixing and the speed of changeover.

Everything else? I toss if it's on it's own.

loving ctp's disco about ull giving us 1-3" down here.  F it.  I'll take it.

Great day, but little too sleet.  Good god this shit is dense.  Plows got my daughter in laws care stuck in like cinder block.  8.5 horse snowblower of mine was strugglin.  Thats sayin something.  was fine where they didnt plow, but man i feel for those who only shovel where plows go by.  I did a few neighbors driveways, sidewalks and mess where plow went through.  Ass hat only did 1 pass and backed up.  thats it.  Lots extra for my neighborhood to clean up., I broke a part and will resume in the morning after i fix it.  I'm pooped.

Enjoy the rest of the snow.  Hope we all get a little more.

tomorrow we play.  saw a good handfule of snowmobiles when I took mine out earlier.

Fun week coming up.

Do a little work on the ridge axis out west and next weekend's threat could emerge again.

7pm Obs:  14/13 with moderate sleet as the dry slot approaches.  Sleet has accumulated an additional .5" since 3pm, bringing the storm total to 8.7".  A funny reminder with this storm has been just how inefficiently sleet accumulates.  You can think you're getting hammered with pingers for hours on end and then you check and it's like half an inch over four hours or something like that haha.  In any case, quite a pack we're going to have for ourselves here.

Was talking about that with my wife earlier, can't recall an extended stretch this cold, and the nights may be able to go even lower with this snowpack if we go clear and calm.  Get ready for pipes bursting.

Something I learned when I lived in Michigan is to prevent pipes from bursting use snow to insulate the house. Shovel piles of it up against the foundation. Probably going to do this tomorrow.

Certainly could be one of the coldest weeks since January 16th to 22nd 1994. Harrisburg had SIX sub-zero readings that week and three of them were sub-negative 10. -14, -21 and -22.

Those numbers will be tough to match ever again.
