But it is sorta entertaining to watch the variations between mainly snow and mainly sleet. I'm sure in time it'll remain all sleet. At least I won't get any zr.

Mount Joy Snowman
Well, was going to do a Noon observation but decided to up it to 11am per @Itstrainingtime's request bc sure enough I have pingers mixing in here. Hard to overstate how discouraging it is to being seeing sleet (1) by 11am (2) while I'm staring at a temp of 12 on my home station and (3) given where we were with this storm a few days ago. Got to give the NAM its flowers for sniffing out the extent of that warm layer before anyone else. But anyway, last three hours brought an additional 3.8" of snow for a storm total of 7.5" thus far. For now, it has flipped back to mostly snow but I'm sure the pinger takeover is imminent. Now we see how much sleet we can rack up. Congrats to those NW of Harrisburg, looking forward to hearing of some big totals! 2

So unless I'm willing to clear a board and do it legit, which I'm not, the total snowfall in the yard and unshoveled walkways will end as it was when the sleet showed up. Just a hunch. canderson
Wow heaviest snow of the event now. I fear that means sleet starts sooner rather than later. Hat tip to the NAM, seems to have nailed thermals.

Doubly aggravating when we're sitting at damn near single degree temps.

Most modeling had York Springs down on Rt. 94 (from Carlisle) staying snow. Don't know what the Nam had as I refuse to give it the attention it so desperately needs! mitchnick
This sleet is different from most sleet fests. One of the mets in the MA forum commented that there are still a lot of needles with the sleet and opined could be crystalline below the 700-750mb warm layer. It definitely looks different. Glad you said that. When I went out to measure I thought it to be the largest I’ve seen.

mitchnick
Still getting a decent amount of snow mixing in especially with heavier bursts. You guys near Harrisburg should get a lot of mix and then switch back to all snow with accumulations. If I switch back, it'll be more a novelty than accumulating.
