paweather
Happy New Year all! I don’t know what happened but I guess something did since I was off posting for a long time now feeling grateful. I have known @Bubbler86since the Marcus days and maybe before AOL? We only know each other from these forums. I 100% respect him and don’t want to know want happened. That said I 100% respect training and appreciate his postings with others whom post with this hobby. That is what it is a hobby for most of us. We can always agree to disagree, now back to the weather.
ChescoWx
As I had mentioned yesterday some models were hinting at some snow showers overnight and we did indeed see some overnight which as many have mentioned recoated drives across the area. Here in East Nantmeal we picked up 0.3" of snow. We continue with well below normal temperatures through Monday but then see a nice warmup with temperatures trending well above normal for much of next week. Overall the next week or so looks dry with maybe a snow shower chance Saturday night.

Usually trough in Europe & trough near Japan corresponds with a trough in the eastern US, but there is usually a brief lag.
canderson
Very boring weather in thr first 3 weeks of January it looks like to me. We need a wind break for sure, though. 50s seem very possible next week to kick off the Farm Show.

Festus
My annual tradition of noting tomorrow is Perihelion day - the Earth is closest to the sun officially at 12:15 EST. And as a double bonus, tomorrow is also a supermoon (full moon while the moon is at or near perigee). This combo won't happen again until 2045. So when that time rolls around, be sure to tell your kids (or grandkids, or great-grandkids, or anyone who will listen) that you were there in 2026 and it was a rollicking event.

Blizzard of 93
The 12z EPS & 12z Canadian ensemble in the day 10 to 15 period look very workable to me. I have no interest in freezing the orange groves while we have below zero temps. Last year a frigid 2 weeks in late January gave us “congrats Carolinas” & “congrats Gulf coast” when they snowed while we froze. I think many of us would welcome a pattern of just cold enough with chances to score snow. Bring on some moisture laden storms & let the chips fall during prime snow climo season.
ChescoWx
Still crunching the annual climate numbers for the other Chesco stations but at least here in East Nantmeal our average temperature for 2025 was 52.4 degrees this is the 5th coldest year in my 22 years at this location and the coldest since the 51.7 in 2013. 1

NepaJames8602 Posted yesterday at 12:26 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:26 AM These "under forecasted" snowfalls since wed night here, have been something else. I came home tonight to another 2.5 to 3" inches of new snow from today. Forecast this morning at last check was, a 40% chance of scattered snow showers lol. Since wed night, I've picked up 6" inches of snow. Pretty wild actually. I will absolutely remember this winter for its very frequent and over achieving nickle and dime events, and odd far stretching les streamers that actually put down good amounts. Seasonal total now sits at, 29.0". Feels like deep winter with a nice snow pack and 15 degrees currently. What a shame this will be wiped out next week.

ChescoWx
If you think we were running colder than normal the entire holiday season you are correct. In the 37 days since Thanksgiving day 31 of those days have featured below normal temperatures. We should have another 3 days of below normal temperatures before we finally see an above normal temperature day on Tuesday. In fact, that day should begin a streak of well above normal temperatures that should last for about 6 days before we look to potentially trend back to below normal by next Monday. There is a slight chance of some flurries tonight with our next rain chance arriving by Thursday night.
Blizzard of 93
CTP had this great post. I certainly wouldn’t mind a 13-14 repeat here, except this time add on the 3 March events that just missed us to our south in MD.
